Maybe it's good that the promoters starve enough to put on better fights but so will the fighters. It will cause an exodus that already took place in the 90s from guys going into other sports (football, basketball, soccer). This fight would have been awesome on HBO or even Showtime because their reach is wide. ESPN is more concerned with outside distractions than actual sports nowadays and now boxing is suffering.

This is an awesome fight to cap off an awesome year of boxing and it's being ignored largely by the media that 5 months ago was talking all day everyday about how much of a circus Mayweather vs McGregor was going to be but over 4 million people paid for it and they still reported on it. Here is a real fight between 2 top level, elite, Olympic fighters and the best we got is internet message boards.

There are only a handful of fighters who justify the cost of promotion and advertising. Lomachenko and Rigondeaux aren't part of the very select group.

I agree, though. The promotion has been garbage (non-existent).

A true shame. When are the press conferences, does anyone know?

Yeah it is sad. I have already launched my campaign within my group of friends highlighting all of their acheivements and how cool it is they are fighting trying to garner some interest. I demand a cut

Probably Thursday --- the day before the weigh in... but that hasn't been announced either. Just Googled it... Nothing about a press conference!!! Pathetic!!!

Never introduce boxing to anyone using Rigondeux if you want them to be interested.

This fight should be PPV. Excellent match-up. Boxnation Saturday night after a solid BT card.. Can't wait!

This isnt a surprise. The US dont care about boxing no more. This would've been big in Canada though.

And Bob Arum knows Loma will never be a PPV fighter so he doesnt bother to throw away money on publicity stunts

How did this fight wind up on ESPN?

It probably would have gotten a better build-up through HBO I'd imagine. Haven't almost all of Lomachenko's previous pro bouts been on HBO?

We never pay more than 20 bucks for PPV over here. Im usually ok with it if it ensures good fights and stacked undercards.
