Bob Arum tells me with a @vasyllomachenko victory Saturday, target No. 1 will be @siri_salido,” said Lance Pugmire on his Twitter.

Unfortunately he appreciates Floyd's ultra defensive style and respects Floyd too much:

“Floyd Mayweather said the most important thing in boxing is defense,” Lomachenko said to the latimes.com. “I agree with him. I want to finish my boxing career healthy, and not get hit. The problem when you’re aggressive is that your opponent will land something on you. Mayweather, what he started doing, was work on defense to just win the bouts, not taking the chances and risks. That’s where he went .”

This could actually count against him from an 'effective aggression' angle. He should've been focussing more on winning points on effective aggression, learning to play rough and even slapping his way to victory Calzaghe-esque. Salido rematch may end up being a tougher fight for him then I originally expected.

Floyd had a much more aggressive style of defensive fighting in his lower weight days. I wouldn't sweat these comments too much.

The extent of his aggression in the lower weight classes is very overestimated, but I guess he at least wasn't a snooze-fest fighter before.

Taking notes from Floyd is the last thing he should be doing for his career. His defence is fine, it's the factors I mentioned in the thread starter that must be managed better.

I just hope this fight is made if Loma wins his next fight. Salido will be game but Loma will be too much for him. Loma is already a top 10 P4P talent but whatever reason is vastly underrated.

Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships.:deal The sooner people realize this the better off they will be. If Loma becomes even better on defense especially as he moves up in weight he will be an ATG.

Most fighters want to leave the game with their senses intact. I see nothing at all wrong with what Lomachenko said. Fortunately for him, he has the skill to fight in an manner that allows him to win and avoid taking a bad beating.

Mayweather isn't necessarily the best person for this. Loma knows he has the same stylistic threat as Money May but wants to deal with these threats like Mayweather did?

Mayweather IMO is 2-1-1 in the JLC and Maidana fights.
Hell, any two scorecards by Floyd fanboys make a case for a Maidana victory in the first fight.

There is something he can try to prove - beating Lomachenko under fair(er) terms, and a less green version of Loma.

Maidana didn't win ****. PBF only struggled early with Maidana because PBF was cut early in that fight for the first time of his career. He needed a couple rounds to adjust to it after that he went to work. Maidana did nothing the second half of that fight. Not to mention PBF was 37 in that fight, he wasn't prime.

Also PBF is the best for it. He's an ATG and the best fighter of this era. He know what it takes to be great and Loma is smart by listening to him.

You're entitled to that opinion, but it's also a very plausible view that it was a draw according to many (even those who believe Floyd won the fight), and as I've just stated, Floyd fans disagree over which rounds Maidana won, the variety is so great, thus making a case for Maidana victory.
He's an ATG and the best fighter of his era (that doesn't mean he beats a 130lb Pac for example, but that does mean he will get more consistent wins against great opposition than Pac).
