The real waste of time was the year he spent in AAAA boxing.

I disagree loma taking on a savy vet like Salido for only his second fight was one of the most *****y things I've seen.

He is the greatest amateur fighter of all time. That is no small feat and worth "wasting" 4 years on.

Just think of all that time he wasted as a kid. He did not even start boxing until he was 6. The guy completely wasted the first five years of his life. in fact: What was he doing ****ing away his life in his mother's fetus when he could have been fighting pro?

A lot of things wrong with this.

First off you're going off the assumption that he value's pro career more than his Olympic career. Maybe he does, I don't know. Based on evidence I doubt it and this just sounds like a lot of projecting to me.

The whole thing about his style being a young mans style has a logical basis to it. But it honestly doesn't apply. Loma is further ahead in his career than most at 28, he's already claimed one division and moved on to the next. Thinking he has little time left based on his style is ignorant. It implies that he'd be unable to adjust despite many fighters of his caliber doing so with ease. It also implies that he can't extend his youthfulness by taking care of himself and training smart and efficiently. Obviously that can be done since we saw Mayweather do it. Yes, Mayweather declined, but it sure as hell wasn't anywhere close to age 28. Going on to say Ward, Kovalev, and GGG are deep in their 30's? None of them have even reached the halfway point yet.

Nice post but why even bother? Micromanagment of his level almost cannot even be addressed, although you seem to have a good job trying. :good

GGG is 34. That's the 5th year of the decade. Kovalev is 33 that's the 4th year of the decade. Ward is 32 that's the 3rd year of the decade.

All of them are creeping up in age. An age that you just don't see a young man's style anymore. But they don't fight like young fighters. They fight like savvy vets. Inside fighting, power, timing and technique. That's what they do.

Could you imagine Roy Jones looking like Roy Jones at 33 or 34? You cannot because he has a young man's game. Based on speed and reflexes. Which is the first thing to go. Loma is the same way.

I think he should have been coerced 4 years ago to turn pro.

The Olympics is great and all but its not the elite of boxing.

But he didn't need to rematch Salido if his team did their planning better. Either they didn't fight him until later, or they fought him but with some damn good homework on his 'veteran' ways.
