Lomachenko nas nothing else to do in the sport, i doubt any of the young guys sees any point in fighting him now and the lopez loss completely stalled his career. Outside of money needs, i dont see any reason for him wanting to continue fighting.
I disagree. He wants to unify at 135 and I suspect he will drop down to his natural weight and finish his career closer to 130 or so. Stevenson will be a big fight at that weight. Also, if he can’t get Lopez to rematch or if Teo quickly moves to 140, there are still some big fights with the younger guys potentially (Tank, Garcia, Haney). He’s giving up too much size at 135 and I hope he drops down to 130 soon. The injury before the last fight occurred in training and he seems to be showing signs of aging but the second half of the Lopez fight showed he’s still got gas in the tank and can fight at a very high level. I hope Lopez doesn’t hold the belt hostage and gives him a rematch.
Stevenson is nowhere near that level yet, it will probably be until 2022 until stevenson fights a contender. Davis and lopez are already talking of moving further up and garcia is golden boy, so i doubt they would risk their prospective cash cow against a top rank fighter. the only possibility is haney , but i doubt he wants the fight, i see lomachenko career lingering away, the same thing that happened to rigondeaux after beating donaire.
Arum, in a recent interview, indicated he/they are at least entertaining the idea of returning to 130lbs for a potential Valdez bout. If Loma can return to 130 for a "get healthy" fight this spring, a fall bout with Valdez would be an outstanding start to what is undoubtedly the "back nine" of his career. I would favor Lomachenko over anyone at 130lbs, including Stevenson.
Big difference in the two. Rigo was painfully boring to watch. Loma is more active and immensely more talented. I liked Rigo but my casual friends couldn’t stand to watch him fight. He had one good win, Donair. Loma will get fights, they can’t all run from him. I think he’s got a year or two left especially if he moves down. unfortunately, I agree it’s going to be tough to get fights because these young guys are protecting the 0. Hope he fights at least one name on the list and gets a Lopez rematch. Tank is just moving up for the one fight. He is a pudgy midget and has no business at 140 at least not against a decent opponent. The top guys would all clown him.
He should head down to 130 or even 126 because he doesn't belong at 135 with all these natural 147 massive weight bullies like Teo and Haney who look like the living dead on the scales. This content is protected
