But it's very effective if you know how to use it. Pacquiao uses the jab well from the southpaw stance. So does Rigo. Martinez is brilliant with the jab and used it to control Chavez Jr all night. Lara also uses it well. And the list goes on.
He is a right handed fighter, fighting out of the southpaw stance. This means his rear hand is not as effective as it should be. He can't throw it as well. He has issues leading with it.. which for a left handed southpaw.. the left hand would normally be lead with a good bit. It also means he isn't able to use it as well as a counter shot.. to keep people off of him. Instead he moves.. or clinches. This also means, that his lead had is much stronger then normal. He uses a lot of arm in his jab, not putting himself on the line as much as someone would normally have to do.. while jabbing that much. It has the side effect of his jab not really stinging most of the time though.
i thought pac has no jab. *****s will jump at you now. southpaw's jab is more like range finder/controlling distance as you point out. but yeah i agree, loma's offense has a lot to be desired.
I think his strategy for that fight is what sucked. Clearly they were worried about the 12 round distance. I was expecting the whole fight to be much like the last 2 rounds with a lot of infighting from both guys, both guys trying to push each other back. I 100% did not expect Lomachenko to take the stick and move option, especially not for 80-90% of the fight. Of course the prospect of being clubbed in the balls every time he closed the distance might have had something to do with it....who knows. Also might have pulled the stoppage if the ref had been more strict earlier in the fight with regard to holding from both guys. Lomachenko needed to lose a point for holding, Salido needed to lose a few for low blows. If that had happened, the home stretch would have been more exciting and I think Lomachenko would have stopped him because Salido wouldn't have held so blatantly.
Nah.....styles make fights and Loma is still evolving his style as a pro. He's going to iron out all the kinks as he progresses. His movement is good.....it's well balanced and Fluid. He is moving a lot which. I think had more to do with the opponent who was across the ring from him last night. He just didn't have the experience to nullify Salidos offensive game plan. The kid has good instincts and very good composure for only 2 fights. He just needs a little more time to work his way up to the level he was thrown into last night. But ultimately Loma did great all things considered.
I was rooting for Loma and was expecting a lot more from him. It seemed to me that he was trying to slow down the pace of the fight by holding. He has the quickness to go around and out maneuver Salido and punch him on the side angle, but didn't. The missing uppercut was what kept Salido head down the entire fight and targeting the body. In many of his other fights his opponents was much larger than him was able to execute much of what was missing in this fight. Having said that, last 3 rounds was a good sign for his future fights.
He should have fought the whole fight like he did the 12th and he would have stopped Salido fairly easily.
I am faster than Garcia. It doesnt really mean ****. Garcia is a way better fighter at this point. That isnt hard to see
Wow! You guys really dont know **** about boxing. He couldnt perform like that the first few rounds because salido was fresh and dangerous. Fights develope a certain way for many reasons. Meaning that loma most likely felt like salido was no longer a threat due to exhaustion.
