I think it is extremely difficult for an Eastern European boxer to be a 'global' superstar. I don't see anybody from the region eclipsing Wladimir & Vitali and I probably wouldn't refer to them as 'global superstars', and they've done more for the region than anybody else in terms of putting it on the map, boxing-wise. And they're heavyweights.

I think he has ruined his career with the semi-pro thing.

Very, VERY good, but he's so well-suited to the amateurs that he might as well go for a third gold. Amateur boxing is usually pretty boring, but I love it when short boxers out-box taller opponents.

I disagree . . . Moneychenko can be a big star. He has to do it right and come to the USA and sign with a great promoter. I know he gets a lot of flack but no one can create a star like Bob Arum:yep

His performance in the final was quite disappointing. Instead upping the pace when you're ahead on points and much better then your opponent going into the last round he disengages and starts running :patsch
And this is not the first time he's giving us this crap. A pity that a tremendous boxer like him reverts to doing that:-(

Signing with AIBA instead of turning pro is ******ed. Whatever happened to trying to be the best in the world Vasyl?

**** him, getting a third olympic gold medal wont mean **** with the level of talent he possesses

As a longtime Lomachenko fan-- and one of his biggest boosters on here (next to Matty III, of course)-- I find his decision to sign with ABP or whatever the **** it's called disgraceful.

Loma matches extraordinary athleticism with brilliant technical prowess and is a future P4Per.

Instead we'll be watching him beat up Kazakh cab drivers for the rest of his career.

    Couldn't be MORE disappointed.

He wants more medals so think like this: instead of not seeing him AT ALL outside of amateur competitions, you'll get the chance to see him in semi-pro matches under pro rules AND in upcoming Olympics. I don't like it either but it's his decision and he's putting medals ahead of money, something I can respect.
