Depends on what your goal is for this cycle of the training. And then what your next phase of the training ishow long your leaving for adaptations and when your next competition is.
one of my trainers preferred for his boxers to play football/ "soccer" instead of just jogging around, just couldn't play goalie. I still see his point. Soccer was more interesting and got your body and reflexes more tuned and balanced than just roadwork, unless you really know how to do real roadwork which is not much like jogging.
Real roadwork isn't just jogging. You have to shuffle, retreat, move lateral, run fast, duckwalk, bear crawl, handkick backwards, handkick forewards, jog, cross, add punches. We didn't do roadwork on the actual road, more like a football field. I think that way is better because it's more sport specific than just jogging.
Ludicrous. Roadwork is running, not "just jogging." Running boosts your vo2 max and raises cardio endurance, both translate directly to the ring. There are plenty of other drills for lateral strength/quickness, punch development, speed/reflex work, etc.
