First time I've heard of that, they must've got the stat wrong. Because he's been recorded with a 84" reach going all the way back to his Olympic days. The guy I immediately thought of was Julius Long - 7'1" tall, 90" reach. And very guilty of not using it, too.
Rahman is worth a mention. I've seen his listed from 84" (which would tie him with Lewis and Liston) to 82". Watching his rematch with Makaev it was strange to see Maskaev, who is a pretty big man and actually taller than Rahman, just struggle all night (well, nearly ) to get past Rahman's reach.
I remember during one of Rahman's fights guest commentator Emanuel Steward mentioned that Rahman's hands were humongous, that he had wrapped many heavyweights hands over the years and that Rahman had the biggest fists that he ever saw, bigger than Lennox Lewis and George Foreman.
Guys got the perfect heaveyweight build imo... This content is protected If he'd been trained from a young age Rahman could have been a great.
Reach (wingspan) is not all that useful for determining the actual punching reach, as is arm length measurement. Height is just as, if not much more important. Valuev measures at "only" 85" but i'll bet my house that his actual reach is more than half an inch more than Lewis'.
Thashvilli vs Long, we need to make it happen. They can trade shots while standing in their respective corner.s
So nothing is then?atsch Obviously you two are fanatical Klitshcko (both Klitshcko's being tall with short arms) supporters so thats what you want to be true. Height is a factor in range finding, as is reach, there's no escaping it. Reach matters.
Thats true. Just from seeing Williams next to other fighters, he looks way more than 6'1". He towered the 5'11" Margo.
The Klitschko's have short arms? I don't think so at all, and i've never heard anyone else say that, either. I'd say their arms are about proportional for their height.
