I know numbers are not necessarily indicators for greatness, I just want to know what are the absolute records, this time not in the number of fights but in time interval. Longest winning streak for a fighter? Longest winning streak for a fighter who was never defeated? Longest reign of a champion ever? --->Who retired undefeated? Is it all Ricardo Lopez? (16 years, 11 of world champion) Todays undefeated fighters: If Mayweather stays retired: 11 years, 9 years of world champion (of course with 4 not-title fights during that 9) Calzaghe in 2008, with 2 more fights, and IF hell win both: 15 years, 11 of world champion. Will he break all the records? (Lopez had one D 3 years before he retired, so it wasnt a perfect one, Marcianos carrier was between 47-55, it's only 8 years)
Samson Dutch Boy Gym went over 10 years without a loss and made 38 defenses of his WBF Super Flyweight Title
You're right about that. Seriously, take a look at this record... http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=008222&cat=boxer
The worst thing about it is he beat some decent fighters and seemed to have some real pop . Going by his record alone it appears the guy actually was a really good fighter and could have been a genuine champ.......such a shame .
Longest undefeated carrier? The only contenders i can think of are Tommy Morrison and Esteban De Jesus. :hey
only 1 british world champ ever retired as a world champ and was undefeated and that was light welterweight terry marsh in the 80`s but he never had the longevity.
yep her was a fireman and was in the marines. but he got kicked out when he failed his gun assesment tests . for some reason frank refused to ever name him . as a fighter he improved out of sight as he got older, i saw him fight clinton mckenzie live in a war but when he won the world title he became a pressure fighter from the stand up boxer he was before and at about 5.10 and letting his hands go non stop, with skill and not wild and with a good chin he turned into a very formidable fighter. i went to see him fight joe manley an american number 1 contender who was the favourite to beat marsh and marsh tore into him from the off and ko`d him with a left hook. long time since i have seen that looking back , i might dig that out and have a rewatch this week. he never gets talked about in british circles, he looked like bobby ball the comedian but he sure could fight.
Going back to the topic: so if Calzaghe will finish his career with 2 more wins he will be the fighter who was fighting for the longest without a defeat and retiring with all wins?
