For example,people were clamoring for a Tyson/Spinks fight since Michael was perceived as an opponent that would finally have a decent chance of defeating Tyson. How long did it take to make that fight a reality? A recent comparable from the sport of mma has Stipe Miocic fighting the dangerous #1 contender Ngannou on Jan 20th. This bout was immediately realized after Ngannou snatched the top spot in the rankings.
Still waiting for Gamboa vs Lopez to stop marinating. Tyson vs Holyfield took some 6 years to come together. A lot of setbacks. Hopkins vs Jones II took 17 years to come together. That has to be some kind of a record.
