No he didn't. Direll was winning that round.

What I find so interesting is that all these guys were saying how weak of a chin Direll has... and how much of a KO artist AA is. We all know when AA lands his KO punch, it is ONE PUNCH POWER. Literally the people he hits are lights out and look like they have been shot. Direll gets hit FLUSH by this KO artist, while defenseless and not expecting the punch? This apparent glass jawed fighter actually TOOK the hit and decided to act like he was seriously hurt, to get out of a fight he was dominating and until that point was even winning the 11th round??? Jesus Christ.

I think that's what happened. But also anyone who thinks Dirrell is faking it is either new to the sport or they simply haven't seen enough rough knockouts. Dirrell's only career achievement might end up being a dominant DQ win over Abraham because of this. Terrible incident for everybody, even Arthur. If he really didn't mean to do it, and that's the way I see it, it was an undeservedly bad night for him too. If he did mean to do it, that's another conversation altogether.

Yeah, this is what puzzles me, so why would he deliberately do it?

Thing is Dirrell does all this ducking down, and sometimes the ref steps in, breaks them up and restarts the fight. Cos you do have this strange pause from Abraham like maybe he does think Dirrell is down, but the ref doesn't do anything, so the fight's still going on, and in that moment Abraham throws the punch. I've seen more angles now and it doesn't look full-blooded to me, it looks uncertain. It's a weird moment.

I accept that Dirrel might have been hurt to some degree, but I still think he was acting somewhat. It's an interesting point someone makes above that maybe he feels his balance is gone but he's still got some clarity of thinking, and all kinds of bad thoughts must have gone through his mind, that he was about to lose a fight he had been winning easily.

To another above poster, there was clearly some melodrama going on. I've seen plenty of KOs, I've never seen anything like this, I can't remember discussing the ending of a fight like this. I also can't remember a fighter being accused of faking before, but if you look at the other boards as well as this one, the jury is about 50/50.

I think Dirrell heard Berstien yell that the punch was a foul and he played it for what it was worth. but regardless if he was faking or not it was the right call DQ.. even if derrell was able to get up, that punch was just hard enough to make a difference in his performance.

I can't believe these people come up with these threads, after that vicious shot that he got clocked with. No Dirrell didn't get hurt, because aa is not known as a vicious puncher, he was just acting.:-( Ridiculous.
