:rofl @ his footwork. Very flat footed, probably helps to generate power which is probably why he's got 12 KO's in 13 fights, but unfortunately for him means he's always going to be in range and Sturm will land on him all night. And when he isn't punching, he just jumps up and down on the spot. :rofl
It is quite difficult to defend Sturm's actions since he fought De La Hoya. That was a ballsy effort as a novice to take on that fight, but since he got an unfortunate decision he seems to have had a crisis of confidence and is struggling to locate his balls. It seems he has chosen the easy life for good pay cheques. Loses to De La Hoya, fights a few C classes (being generous) and manages to get an eliminator and eventually a WBA title through not the toughest of routes Knocked out by Castillejo Rematches Castillejo...fair play to him here and wins this time D Class Draw with Randy Griffin...okay Griffin is not a bad fighter Jamie Pittman...awful awful fight, completely padded record for the Australian, this fight is very much reminiscent of the upcoming debacle Rematches Griffin...he really had an obligation to do this, wins convincingly this time Sylvester...okay I can see this one. Top middleweight contender, good fight in Germany. Now this... Overall its been a disapointing career and this is a disapointing sign of things to come I think going by history. At 30 when he is probably in his prime judging by his performance against Sylvester he is no particular rush to unify or even fight top contenders on a regular basis.
I was convinced when Mundine vacated he was promised a shot at Sturm. Now Arum claims a Sturm fight is 'doable'. I don't think he makes as much money against either as Abraham offered him. You think he really thinks he could beat Pavlik and not AA and Mundine? I'm a little confused over this. I thought Pavlik was just an excuse to keep from fighting AA. May still be the case, hard to say if they are serious with Arum or just trying to keep the Sturm fans happy? I think making Mundine his mandatory has shaken his world a little.
Sturm fans?! Anyway, that wouldn't make much sense to me. I doubt Sturm would be worried about Mundine but not Pavlik. Infact I would strongly back Sturm to beat Mundine at this point in time.
Is there a deadline he has to meet for the defense? I've heard Mundine isn't ruled out for Pavlik in May/June.
I really doubt that. Mundine has been looking like absolute crap in recent times and we have still yet to see how fighting at 160lbs has impacted on him against a proper opponent. Sturm is coming off a career best performance.
What the hell was he swatting away in front of face? Flies, maybe. Ridiculous looking fighter. He doesn't snap his jab, he just kind of sticks it out there. Seems to have good power, but, that is it.
