This was Ali around his peak I think. He was so much better than the others, leaning back and teasing his opponents. Keeping them out of range, but never being out of range himself, dancing rings around them, taunting and in Terrells case, slowly torturing them in a cruel fashion. I don't like this side of Ali and prefer to see Ali / Williams where Ali danced, skipped around then planted his feet and properly Kayoed the guy.
True. It's a bit overrated as such, but still a nice example of Ali's poise. How casually he does it. There's also a bit when an ancient Ali shows he still has it against a young Dokes in an exhibition. Ca 1978 I think.
a great example of Ali destroying easily and clowning entirely a highly skilled 6 foot 6 monster world champ.
Funny thing is you still get people saying Louis, Tyson, Marciano, Dempsey and other fighters of that calibre could beat that version of him. Didn't Earnie have a sister Tammy ( i think ) who duetted with Marvin Gaye and other great Motown artists?
Once Ali caught Ellis with a peach of a right hand in one of the early rounds, the writing was well and truly on the wall.
