Golovkin will knock him out at 160. It's very possible that Golovkin will become Cotto's mandatory. Cotto will give up his 160 lb. title or get knocked out..............................

Nah, he was just young. After that pic he went on a 6-0 (5) run at the weight, taking on top flight opposition.

He made it consistently - and comfortably (sometimes by a few pounds, even in non-title bouts) for the first six years of his career and fought his last 140lb bout at the age of 25.

He started at light fly in the amateurs in his early teens, and spent most of his amateur career at lightweight.

That wasn't a drained fighter in 2004 in that weigh-in pic with Bailey, it was just a young kid growing into his frame. He was a wiry-strong type back then. If you look at him in the ring next to guys like Torres, Pinto, Abdullaev, etc - he doesn't look bigger. I don't think he was cutting a great deal to make 140, certainly not for that long.

But it was by the Torres fight when the weights issues started to be talked about wasn't it? He may not be drained for the fight in the picture but it's a shocking pic to me compared to Cotto's current build.

Yeah. I honestly never was a fan of how much bulk Cotto seemed to carry at 154lbs. It slowed him down and made him less effective from 2010 until 2012, IMO. Then after linking up with Roach he got his fitness - and ferocious style - back. He wore his 155lbs against Martinez well. He's still packing a lot of excess muscle he probably doesn't truly need, but his movement is no longer suffering under Roach like it was for most of his junior middle campaign.

I think he is a natural 'tween-er (140lber/147lber - and those were the weights he fought in his prime)

That's really not that bad. Most people would be horrified if every weigh-in was televised.
