Look let's be realistic here. Wlad/Vitali/Lewis would dominate any era of HW boxing

    Tommo,

I agree to a certain extent, but by the time he was fighting the likes of Evander, he was nowhere near the fighter he'd been previously.

Ha! You're argumentative. So if I'd have said Holy would have won, you'd have gone for Mike. Ha! I like it.

    Ha!

I thought you'd have found a spot for Ali somewhere around the 40-50 mark.

At least you're now calling him Ali now though, instead of young Clay.

    We're making progress.

    Tommo,

Ha! That made me laugh!

I think Holmes could have beaten Lewis. In theory he could have beaten Foreman, but I could see Foreman catching him at some point.

Wlad hasn't got the confidence that Lennox had in my opinion. Everybody knows that any HW will go if they're hit clean. But Lewis avenged his losses. Wlad only avenged the Brewster one, and i think the defeats made him cautious. Like you've said previously, Manny said he wasn't aggressive enough. I think Wlad is still psychologically scarred by those defeats.

That doesn't really make sense then.

You can say LL is your favourite fighter of all time. But the greatest fighter of all time has to be the best fighter across all of the divisions.

Ray Robinson is widely considered as the greatest ever. Because at his peak, he had everything.

Speed, skills, he could box, he could fight, he had perfect balance, perfect timing, beautiful footwork, great shot variation, a great defence etc.

    Tommo,

Ali was fantastic to watch, because nobody had his footwork or speed. Wlad can be very predictable and robotic.

Liston was a big favourite to beat Clay in the first fight.

I'd give Mike a 6 round window to have beaten a peak version of Ali.

I think Mike would definitely have beaten Ali from 75 onwards.

    Ha!

A 25 year old version of Ali?

    Crazy talk!

He was exposed to Foreman, Frazier and Norton etc, past prime.

They'd have been solid comp for him in the mid to late 70's.

That's your opinion. I think Wlad is extremely overrated, and I think LL was lucky, in the sense that he never fought prime versions of Tyson, Holy and Larry Holmes. I think Lewis is definitely the most overrated heavy of all time. Tyson had left a huge void in the early 90's, but Lewis couldn't capitalise and got knocked out by McCall. By the time he'd climbed back up the mountain and was given a shot to unify, Holy was past his best. Then he only had the belts for around two years, until Rahman knocked him out. He then beat a shell of a Mike, then struggled with Vitali and retired. Then throw in the Mercer fight on top, and I'm left scratching my head, as to how he's supposed to be the greatest ever.

    Styles make fights.

He wanted to punish Tyrell because of all the bad blood. It was an easy win, just like Folley.

Frazier was a great fighter and a good style match up for Ali.

He fought Quarry after nearly 4 years out.

We can spin things however we want.

Vitali seem to quit against Byrd.

Wlad got knocked out by Purrity, Brewster and Sanders, and went life and death with Sam Peter. None of those fighters mentioned are elite fighters, and I don't mean any disrespect towards them when I say that. Also, as previously mentioned, he didn't avenge all of his losses.

Lewis struggled with Mercer, and Bruno for a while, and got taken out by McCall and Rahman. They weren't elite fighters either. He struggled with Vitali, then retired, and apart from Vitali, he never fought any of the elite guys in their prime. That may not have been his fault, and was just due to circumstances, but that's a fact.

I wonder how Wladimir Klitschko would be doing today if Emmanuel Steward had never left the States and brother Vitali had never been born? Would the Klitschko who got polished by part-time boxer Corrie Sanders have continued in the sport?

As for the Klitschkos beating old time heavies, there is no way to prove it either way, so everyone's point of view is valid.

The sport evolves, everything becomes better with time, therefore it is not logical that the best fighters from the old times were better than today's fighters. Simple as that.

The fact is that Wladimir Klitschko is the undisputed best boxer today, probably it could have been different if there was no Vitali or Steward, but the history happened to go that way and resulted Wladimir being the best.
You may claim that old timers would defeat the modern top boxers, but that's not what logic and reality say.

Aren't we still using the rocket engines that they were using in the 1960s??

You'd have to prove that 'logic' but it's impossible as LL and WL have done nothing better or new that they didn't do in 1950s and they're the most dominant fighters around today, only thing they have is they never came up going to bed starving

Boxing has not evolved, if anyhing it has regressed. Skills, Conditioning and toughness of today is not on par with the past. What exactly in todays boxing world is better than the glory years of the 50s, 60s,70's, 80's and 90's?

Wladimir is not the undisputed best boxer today. He's not even undisputed HW champ.

The Vitali vs. Lewis fight proved that the Klitschko would not have been champion in the Lewis Era. Lewis is the only great fighter the Klitschkos fought and after just 6 rounds Vitali's eye was about to fall out. Vitali has a good chin unlike Wlad but they just don't have the skin to compete with ATGs. Vitali due to having a good chin would give good fights but Wlad's chin is complete **** so he would get KTFO a lot.

If you ask me Vitali is champ. Vitali is the better fighter of the two. He took all the risky fights because he knows Wlad can't take a punch. Wlad has hid behind Vitali his entire career. Vitali has never been knocked down while Wlad has been down at least 11 times. Everyone claims Wlad never got knocked out but he sure look out when Brewster tagged that eggchin.

I remember laughing my ass off when Sanders kept knocking Wlad down. All his little gay fans were making all kind of excuses. In the second round Wlad tried to throw his left hook that farmy and nuthuggers always brag about and Sanders popped his in the mouth and down he went. If Wlad is so good how do you explain him getting blown out by a golfer?? Wlad didn't never rematch Sanders because he knew the result would be the same. Sanders said he never fought anyone with such a weak chin.
