When that GOLFER was injured and untrained he was within a hair of KOIng ROCK . When LL was out of shape the ROCK blew him away for a TEN COUNT . get it ..:deal

 

Man Sanders was fine when he fought Rahman. One thing for sure we found out Rahman has a better chin than Wlad in that fight. Rahman took those shots and kept fighting while Wlad could not stay on his feet. Sanders said he didn't even land with all his force and Wlad still went down.

I don't know if even you believed a word you typed. In reality both Klitschkos and Lewis are too good, too big and too skilled for every 50s/60s fighter. That's the way it is. You can't accept that fact, I'm fine with that, not going to bring any drama to the discussion.

Exactly, boxers are generally stronger, bigger, more athletic, faster, more developed in every segment they need to compete today. You are not trying to say that Rocky Marciano would defeat Wladimir or Lennox Lewis if he was suddenly brought here from his time, or do you?

Well he is globally recognized as the best HW in the world. When I said "best boxer" I didn't have P2P in mind as it's just an virtual imagination while reality is another thing.

Lewis I could see hanging and maybe dominating. If Kevin Johnson, Chris Byrd make Vlad look like that and Brewster and Sanders do Wlad like that I don't think the K brothers could hang in the years when the HW division was high quality. I do think the K brothers would be outstanding competitors and definitely world champions. Maybe even multiple times.

You are wrong about the Boxers. Lewis? Maybe. The K brothers? Nope.

How do you know? The K brothers were around in the tail end of the last decent HW era. They lost. They became dominant as the division thinned.

Wlad got knocked out in his mid 20's by Purrity, Brewster, and Sanders, and went life and death with Sam Peter, yet they'd be too big and skilled for EVERY fighter from the 50's and 60's?

You're asking Dino if he knows anything about sports, yet look at the answer you've given him. You've said that boxers are stronger, bigger, more athletic, and faster.

You haven't used the word better.

Sports science, nutrition and technology/training equipment has all improved.

But what about a fighters skillset?

Footwork
Slipping
Blocking
Parrying
Timing
Stamina
Hooking
Jabbing
etc, etc.

Great skills that have been passed on through generations of old time trainers have been lost.

You don't see as many body punchers, double hooks, and uppercuts today. The fighters seem to have stamina issues, and don't have the mental toughness from yesteryear.

I've asked these questions so many times, I think I'll start a thread.

But, name any weight class of your choice, and then name the top 5-10 fighters that's ever fought there, and you can do it on a h2h basis instead of accomplishments if you wish.

Lets see how many of today's fighters (and fighters of the last 20 years) make the list.


Could any of today's MW's have beaten Hagler?

Could any of today's LMW's have beaten Hearns and Mike McCallum?

Could any of today's LW's have beaten Duran?

Who at WW could have beaten SRL or SRR?

Which of today's LHW's could have beaten Spinks and Foster etc?


There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that boxing has progressed as a whole.


Regarding the whole HW debate, it's as simple as this.


Some HW's of today would be able to beat some HW's of the past.

Likewise, some HW's of the past would be able to beat some HW's of today.


Styles make fights.

That will never change.

 

We're talking specifically boxing here and not sports in general and boxing is definitely not what it used to be .

Wlad Klitschko bends the rules and got in fighting abolished because he can only fight one style. Joe Louis would rip his opponents apart with flawless technique and fluid combinations in close. He was a master of his trade and threw every punch in the book.
He set his feet and turned into shots to create power thats not seen in in today's HW champs.

Boxing is geometry and stiff, limited straight punchers would not be able to compete with ring masters such as Louis, Holmes, Tyson and Holyfield who could box in angles and had a lot more to their game.

 

They cant answer who the best guys are Loudon cos its defeats their argument. haha
