lol glover you finally got banned

    The Rocketdyne F-1.

A very irrational statement, what "fact" where is this "fact" coming from, there is no fact when comparing fighters of history against one another. I'm also fine with you having a unreasonable view on this subject.

Lets be serious here, Lennox Lewis did not face Bowe, Holyfield, or Tyson when it mattered.

Then while he mashed a weak heavyweight division, he bailed when two talented big Heavyweights his size entered upon the scene.

    Just the facts my friends!

Bowe was scared to death and threw the belt in a trashcan.

Tyson was scared to death and paid him millions to not fight.

Holyfield dragged his feet as long as he could.

Foreman flat out said no thanks and was scared to death.

    etc, etc, etc

    Just the facts my friends!

Oldyfield in the eyes of many beat Lennox in a rematch, which should speak volumes as to the quality of Lennox amongst greats.

The bottom line though is that because of the void of not having faced Bowe, Tyson, and Holyfield when those guys were anywhere near prime, Lennox needed someone in the Heavyweight division to come along and establish themself to be a force so that Lennox could finally prove himself against a great fighter at the top of their game.

    Here come the Klitchko bros.
Lennox fights Vitali who was giving 2 weeks notice to prepare, gets his ass kicked for 6 rounds and lucks out on a cut stoppage victory.

Every boxing fan salivates for a rematch coming and Lennox walks away from fights that would have solidified his legacy.

He walks away from facing two prime big heavyweights hitting their prime when he never faced one during his.
Those are the facts friend! :hey

To be fair, Bowe was terrified of Lennox and wanted no part of him. Technically, neither did Tyson, who was on a fast decline and was spoon fed overmatched opponents that were ready to capitulate from the moment they set foot in the ring.

Holyfield lost the first fight and won the second. His prime IMHO was during his fights with Bowe, after which both men were never the same.

    Agreed!
I'm not saying Lewis ducked those guys.
Circumstances prevented some of those fights from being made.

I agree, Bowe did'nt think he needed Lewis to make money.
Bowe avoided Lewis, I'm in agreeance.
Its a shame to as at the point in their careers, Bowe had much more tools than Lennox that imo he'd have beaten him had he fought Lewis when he threw the title belts in the trash can.

Had Moorer not beaten Holyfield in a fight Holyfield was ill in, a Lewis fight may very well have been made.
After the first two Bowe fights, a third one for Holyfield was a natural money maker.

Lewis got his ass starched by McCall......

All circumstances that take from a Holyfield or Tyson fight from being made at the time.

When Lewis finally does meet them, they've obviously seen their better days, especially Tyson who had nothing left against Lewis. NOTHING!

Lewis cruising after Holyfield drops from elite status.
Fans await a real threat to come along. When they finally arrive, Lewis announces he's retired!

As a boxing fan to judge legacy having not faced any of his peers in their prime, I honestly believe Lewis needed to legitly beat either Klitchko to cement his legacy and he did'nt do that.

Steve Parnell floored him. Williamson blew him accros the ring onto his ass with one punch. Brewster had him wobbly legged with a jab.....Sanders never once held Wlad. He destroyed him with straight left hands. You stupid child. Even Klit fans on this forum dont respect your ******ed opinion. Got got banned , stay banned.

Lewis took took only a few million to step aside from Don King when he was to make over 10 million and a shot at the title. Lewis wanted none of Tyson...

Newman sent out two contracts to Lewis after they dropped the WBC belt. Lewis refused the first and accepted the second a few years later. All Lewis had to do was beat MaCall, instead he got KTFO...Bowe was afriad of nothing. It was a dispute between Newman and Don King.

Nobody suscribes to the notion Sanders beat Wlad with a headbutt. Nobody.

Sanders walked him onto counters and when he tried to hold got his chin cracked with a hook. Why wasn't Sanders affected by this head clash? Wlad tried to hold again and Sanders simply threw him off him.

If he was more adept at fighting inside and had any sort of defence it might not of happened.

This is why his limited , one dimensional style would fail him against former greats.

Wlad himself never even complained about a headbutt. He got utterly dominated and destroyed by a golfer.

    Tommo,

There's been a few big HW's over the years, and I don't think they'd have invented another weight class. You had WW's moving straight up to MW, and MW's moving straight up to LHW etc. Fighters were tougher back then. Boxing was definitely better back then in my opinion. Less divisions, one World champion, 15 rounds. I wish it was that way now.

Total mastery of technical boxing -

I'd love to see footage of Wlad on a double end bag.

    That's nonsense.

Like I've previously mentioned, I don't see many double hooks, body punches and uppercuts etc. In my opinion, boxers from the past had better footwork and a better defence. Also, they seemed to have a lot more stamina. Fighters lived in the gym, fought many times a year, and studied the craft.

Wlad doesn't use many punches, and he's not good on the inside, but he doesn't need to be, because his opponents haven't got great skills either.

If you asked a knowledgeable fan to name either their top 20, 30, or 50 fighters of all time, I bet they wouldn't be many modern fighters on the list.

Frazier would be a bad style match up. Because he was relentless and he'd have pressured Wlad all night.

Peter gave Wlad fits, yet Frazier would be taken out in a single round?

    No chance.

Size, athletic ability, and training methods, have nothing to do with a fighters skillset.

    Tommo,

I was just having a little fun.

I can't imagine Wlad throwing quick fire combinations at it. I can envisage him just standing there throwing the 1-2 that he always uses.

A 15 round fight, sorts the men from the boys, and I'd like to see it return, especially in huge title fights. It was changed in the early 80's, due to the tragic death of Duk Koo Kim after being defeated by Ray Mancini. Obviously I wouldn't want to see that happen to any other fighter out there, but that's how they fought years ago, and with the millions of dollars someone like Floyd makes, I'd like to see it return in the big fights.

Of course they made new weight classes, but not until the late 70's-early 80's. If Wlad, Vitali and Lewis had've fought in the 60's, I don't think they'd have invented one back then. The CW's today simply have a choice. If we were in back in the 50's and 60's, all of today's CW's that couldn't make LHW, would probably happily compete at HW.

    List me Wlad's great skillset.

I'm not saying that all of his opponents are ****, but he can get away with not being great on the inside, and not throwing uppercuts etc, because he doesn't really need to fight like that. Today's HW's wouldn't steamroll the era's in question.

Sam Peter could bully is way in, yet Frazier wouldn't have been able to? Wlad went life and death with Peter. Peter isn't superior to Frazier. Frazier certainly had the strength and the will to cause Wlad problems.

Yes, Wlad had developed his own skillset to win. But that doesn't mean that he's got a great set of all-around skills does it?

Look at what you've wrote here.

What does this say about the quality of his competition, when he doesn't need to throw uppercuts, body shots and be great on the inside?

He would have had a nightmare against Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Holmes and Lewis all at their best.

If Rahman, McCall, Byrd, Brewster, Sanders and Puritty managed to knock them out, I'm sure prime Ali, Louis, Marciano, Tyson, Holmes and Dempsey would do the same.

    You are completely delusional.

Championship fights were reduced from 15 to 12 rounds because 12 round fights fit neatly into an hours worth of TV time.

Bring back the 15 rounders and these behemoth 250+ lb heavyweights will go the way of the dinosaur...
