Ortiz truly 35/36 and fully roided to the gills...#2 Ortiz actually 45/46 and in full roid withrawal....#200
I cannot see how Hughie “Pattycake” Fury figures into any rankings. His resume is that he’s beaten a few journeymen and lost when he stepped up by avoiding contact and running like a deer without throwing a meaningful punch. He may be better than British domestic level, but so far he hasn’t done anything to really establish that he is ... and his next scheduled fight is clearly a domestic-level fight.
no matter ortiz age/betting odds/ steroids cheating. i have said before i dont want ortiz to win he is a cheat. but the fight is happening and IMO ortiz has the counterpunching tools and power to take advantage of wilders mistakes and i think he will win hence i ranked him higher . i still have the spilzka fight in my mind and how deontay looked and how he boxed and that wilder loses to ortiz on wilder plus side ortiz is much shorter than claimed and wilder coming in light hopefully means he will box to a gameplan and keep it long and controlled and not give ortiz the openings he gave spilzka.
Assuming Wilder wins tonight.... Wilder Joshua Parker Povetkin Pulev Browne Whyte Duhaupas Miller Ortiz/Jennings/Takam
Well whoever made the list has Hughie at 5 so there's that...and no way can anyone put Pulev at 3......
Szpilka is quick as Mayweather compared to Ortiz and Wilder struggled badly finding the distance and setting the pace. Ortiz is far better than Szpilka fundamentally, but is also flat footed like Wilder. Also has a soft chin due to toothpick calves. Stiverne is as good a CPer as Ortiz and just as powerful. Wilder fought brilliantly and smoked him in the first fight. I see ortiz being a punching bag for 5/6 rds before he eats a R cross, goes down and gives the ref that look
I honestly can't, the only explanation I can think of I'd whoever put the list together needs to find another sport to follow.
Hughie Fury and Tony Bellend should not be anywhere near the top 10. Ortiz and Povetkin both belong in the top 6.
Rudenko is a legit top 20/30 type that just can't overcome the A listers but dominates the C levels. Guinn is indeed a journeyman but only because he's old and only been taking money fights. Kassi is B level like Rudenko but his style is easier to beat. Overall, yeah, Huey's title shot was unearned and his showing dropped him out of my top 15.
career best performance by spilzka v wilder / never fought like it before or after/ but while i agree with what you said spilzka is faster than ortiz and ortiz is flat footed it is how wilder coped with a southpaw. his balance/timing/defense was out of kilter my reason for picking ortiz v wilder. when wilder stepped back from spilzka left hands he did it with his hands over his head and using his hight to lean back and make spilka fall short a lot of times. ortiz IMO will commit more and follow wilder back and if wilder gets caught trapped on the ropes as he did a few times v spilzka /ortiz is going to try and bang him out of there also whn spilzka feinted and stepped in and then pulled back a few times wilder fell hook line and sinker and over commited on right hands falling forward off balance. spilzka did not commoit whn this hppens / whereas its ortiz favourite ploy to draw a right lead with a feint/ step back and when the right falls short step in and land his straigh left. i dont rate stiverne on ortiz level even in the first fight/ he has beaten an arreola style but never showed much to me. but the gameplan wilder adopted v stiverne he should fight in a similar fashion v ortiz / just ortiz looks to slip and parry and counter and will not back up stationary with a double arm guard when wilder lets rip / he will be looking to get his own punches off at the same time. not stivernes style. i have said any win by whatever means and style wilder can v ortiz is a very good win as i think ortiz style is harder to beat for wilder than joshua.
