These fights weren't quite as good as the ring classics SNV vs Barrett or SNV vs Haye in HW history but they would be excellent undercard events for those fights for sure!:good:good

I got thrills and chills from many of his fights! SNV vs Barrett was a ring classic! SNV vs Etienne was unbelievably exciting! It was there that he unveiled for the world stage his double punch and laid Etienne out! That was fantastic ring craftsmanship and the fight itself was a modern day Ali/Frazier. If it didn't give you thrills and chills, Mr Bill, then sir, you are not human.

Look at the grace and athleticism. Feints over the top, spins, turns and double punches that a truly great heavyweight on the charge like a Sumatran Rhino!

Moorer should have stayed at cruiser .. he had a heavyweight punch but he did not have a great chin. It was not bad but it was simply not terrific at heavyweight ... in addition, he always looked a bit thick to me at heavyweight ...

The first fight was strange ... Holyfield was going through one of his career turns where he looked like he was having a heart attack in the ring ... I am pretty sure the drugs were having a negative effect in some capacity ... Moorer fought his best career fight and deserved the win ...

The rematch was also weird ... Holyfield was better but even though he won he still looked like **** ... his punches were slow and he looked like he was punching under water .. he looked very tight ... still , this version was much better than Moore who showed a huge heart but little else ...

These were not classic bouts on my book ...

Both are very interesting fights, with more action in the second.

I thought Moorer deserved the thin nod in the first fight; it was all on the line going in the 12th, and Holyfield had just had a good 11th.

I would say this to, the first fight lacked spark, although if i remember there was a point where Holyfield rallied and you saw that warrior spirit, not a particularly entertaining fight to me though, second fight was a good/decent fight, i enjoyed watching Holyfield use Moorer as a beach ball.

holy-moorer 1 was not a classic...it was kind of boring but moorer barely did enough to win against a sick evander holyfield

holy-moorer 2 was damned good...near classic..this fight spelled the end of michael moorer as a world class heavy and the last great heavyweight fight evander would have before deteriorating

People forget that team Moorer actually bypassed their shot at least two times and took side money to keep quite..... By 1994, their were lingering questions as if Michael Moorer was actually ready for Holy..... Moorer looked real tight for 5 rds before loosening up a bit and letting his paws go......... Moorer didn't seem very hungry to take the belt from Holy....... Even with Teddy Atlas screaming bloody murder..... Fight # 1 did lack intensity and sustained action........

    # 2 was much more thrilling...........

I think Holy won the first fight by a hair, and clearly won the 2nd, neither fight should be considered classic.

And by 95 Moorer was signed to Don King as Tyson fodder. Tyson was set to unify the titles in the same way he did the first time. WBC, WBA then he was going to take a involuntary defense against Tommy Morrison and then fight Moorer for the IBF title. Moorer was shook to all hell against Frans Botha but rallied to stop him late in the 11th I believe. Holy beat Tyson. Don King walked right over to Holy's corner and had him set to unify the titles.

Written down somewhere I know I had the details of how King roughly intended Tyson's undisputed (or near as dammit) champ reign to generally play out. Cobbled together from various news reports, rumours, statements and meetings of the boxing orgs both from the time and years later.

If I find it, maybe I should put a thread up about that.
