    Tyson wanted to unify in the same way he did in his first run. WBC, WBA, involuntary defense, IBF. It was supposed to be Bruno, Seldon, Holyfield, Moorer.

    Hmmmmm.... Tyson did stop Bruno in their rematch and Seldon took a dive for Tyson in 1996, so therefore Tyson was WBC and WBA champ going into Nov. of '96 to face Holy, but if memory serves me right, I think the WBC balked at Tyson fighting Holyfield cuz of a ranking issue........ I forgot what the deal was........ "Holy-Tyson 1" was only for the WBA title if I'm thinking right........ WTF?

    Lewis walked through McCall in early '97 to recapture the WBC title...

    I thought the 2nd fight was very good, Holyfield was at his best and Moorer was brave, but the first one wasnt great, I thougt it was more Holyfield not being at his best than anything

    The WBC didn't have a problem with Tyson fighting Holyfield.

    I hope my memory isn't too hazy on this explanation...

    Lewis was meant to fight the winner of Tyson-Bruno II for the WBC title in mid-'96, but accepted step-aside money of about $4m for Tyson to fight Seldon first for the WBA title.

    Tyson duly won, but instead of then defending the WBC title against Lewis, Tyson just vacated it instead and went into the Holyfield fight just defending the WBA title.

    The WBC were left in the lurch but Suliaman wasn't going to complain to his old chum King, so just set up Lewis vs the highest WBC ranked available contender for the vacant title. That being McCall.

    I wouldn't call either of their fights a "classic"...in the first, you had an ailing, subpar Holyfield getting outpointed by a cautious, anal-retentive Moorer..and a rematch, where the healthy version of 'Vander was more than sufficient to obliterate the fragile chinned Moorer to defeat...nah...save the term "classic" for fights that really are deserving of that designation.
