hard knocks markets itself as a professional boxing gym but its a cross between that and "boxercise" they want you to pay for a full membership up front and you cant roll monthly. they run it like some kind of exclusive members club, they didnt even let me do a trial run. i had to pay 6 months up front just to use the facility. fark them.
What about South East London? I only know of the Lynn AC in Camberwell and the Double Jab in New Cross. What are your thoughts on them?
Ive trained at the hard knocks one. currently closed for a refurb. www.therealfightclub.com/ that is nonsence about 6 months up front. the vat majority there pay on a monthly basis. there were some good things about it and some bad things. good fitness classes, not so much boxing taught. you used to be able to grab one of the other decent fighters and do round after round of drills together and stuff but they stopped that. some of the coaches are quite good some ****. all want 20-30 quid for 30 minutes coaching. very friendly gym and environment tho. when the new one opens should be amazing. i also trained at lynn . v good amateur gym but they concentrate on the young stars there understandably so. they also arent accepting any new people joining as they are voer subscribed. i had to train for a week to rpove my credentials.....
i swear they made me pay 6 months upfront! i asked for a trial month or to pay monthly and they told me no. but agree with what you said, i had mixed feelings about it as well, there was nothing exceptional about it.
if anyone is attends the real fight club when it reopens, would be keen to hear thoughts on the new facility.
Fitzroy Lodge is very central (just across the bridge from houses of parliament) and a very good gym.
Here's mine advise for you, there is a gym named The Circle Gym placed in near London bridge. Check out this website http://se1gym.co.uk/
The real fight club has moved from Liverpool Street to London Bridge,Fitzroy Lodge is the best place to go its open during the day and to the public and its only a fiver to train for aslong as you like you def wont be rushed out at all and you have all the needed facilities in an old school enviroment. You cant just walk into Repton and train clubs like Repton West Ham etc are very specific about who comes in etc and the other white collar and pro gyms charge arm and a leg to train so belive me fitzroy lodge is the best choice.
the best am gyms in london outside the obvious repton and west ham are 1) Lynn -Burgess Park Southwark 2) Dale Youth-Ladbroke Grove 3) Newham-Stratford 4) Earlsfield-Wandsworth 5) Finchley-Barnet 6)Bodyshots-Crayford 7)Eltham-Eltham obv 8) Dagenham-Dagenham Heathway 9) Bexley-Sidcup 10)Islington-
