Hey whats up guys. So i was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good headgear for boxing. The one i have now is ok but the ear padding kind of sucks on it. When i get hit in the ear i can feel it for a couple of days after. is there any headgear out there that has a good ear protection on it? Also im not really looking for a full face headgear. I tried looking for the right headgear but i just cant seem to find one. A few more questions. Can i use my own headgear in a fight or do i have to buy competition headgear, or will they supply it? And while we are at it does anyone know a good pair of training/sparring gloves 16 0z because ive been using the hell out of mine these last few months and they are falling apart at the seams atsch. well i know its a lot of question but to whoever reads ,thank you!
I'm not too familiar with the many diverse selections of headgear currently in the market, so I wouldn't know which would specifically help you with ears..? What I can advice is to look into why you're having problems getting hit on the side of your head and look into improving or tweaking that weakness. No headgear will fix you not getting hit or not feeling the effects of being hit. If you're set on looking for a new head protector, I always suggest Winning FG-2900. Quality, durability, fitting and protection it offers is very worth its price.
yes i suppose you are right about that i should duck and block better. Would you happen to know if USA boxing supplies headgear for competition? or do i have to bring my own?
You mean you get your eardrum slapped and you can't hear bass for a week or two? I had the same issues. Just get any that have a bar going across the ears. Rival headgears are decent. I got one of the cheaper ones - RG2, and love it. It has a flat strap that runs across the ear. I imagine the padded bar that runs across the ear might be better. But I can say I haven't had the same issue since I started using it. I would get one asap. You can only take so many of those shots until permanent damage happens. It happened to me like 4 or 5 times in one year, and enough was enough.
Try Fightgear. They make good stuff. I think Ringside.com distributes them and they're USA Boxing approved.
