    Hi everyone,

I’m a documentary filmmaker currently working on a project about Ronald “Winky” Wright, and I’m looking for high-quality recordings of some of his fights.

In particular, I’m searching for original TV broadcasts recorded live or sourced from master-quality archives — not YouTube rips or heavily compressed copies.

The fights I’m specifically looking for are:

    • Winky Wright vs Jermain Taylor – June 17, 2006

    • Winky Wright vs Bernard Hopkins – July 21, 2007

If anyone has these fights in excellent picture quality, or knows a reliable collector who does, I would greatly appreciate your help.

For such a relatively modern fighter, it’s surprisingly difficult to find these bouts in proper quality, which is why I’m reaching out to the collector community here.

Thanks in advance for any leads or advice.

You need to get the copyright license from whoever owns the rights if you want to rebroadcast it. I have no idea how much that would cost.

The licensing is already my problem. I know how it’s handled. That’s not the issue here. I need the fights, and I know that many collectors have good-quality recordings. That’s why I’m asking such people for help.

Make sure you get the vargas robbery fight. Mosleys and trinidad domination. If only oscar didn't duck winky.

    Did Oscar really duck Winky?

    Have you got the specifics?

Thank you. But I’ve already seen everything that’s available publicly. The quality there is very, very poor. I would be glad to get in touch with a collector who recorded the original broadcast, so the picture would be good enough to watch. I’ve found good-quality versions of his fights against Mosley, Simon, many other older fights from the 1990s, and some lesser-known bouts of Wright. But for some reason, the more recent fights against Hopkins and Taylor are in terrible quality.

Im just playing. Oscar didn't want that fight though. Didn't want Vernon Forrest either. Those are two bad matchups for him.

Winky Wright v Sam Soliman is one of the best fights you will ever see.

    Such a banger

He destroyed his career not taking the Taylor rematch, a rematch I felt he would have won with ease a second time around

Whoever was in his ear and talked him out of that rematch should be shot

No one wanted to fight Winky. Hopkins was so dirty in the Winky fight that he should have been disqualified, but he was the A-side and given the win.

Maybe also try it in the classic forum / lounge?

I don't know much about it, since i don't use torrents, but there seem to be closed forums that don't take new members but which might answer to your request if you explained it?

Supposedly they have an enourmous amount of fights?

Shane Mosley is among my very favorite fighters ever… and Winky out classed him in that first fight!

He’s a real under rated technician. He really didn’t lose a fight or even look very vulnerable in his prime… and as was said above, Hopkins’ “win” over him is basically a joke, though not as bad as the Hopkins vs Jones rematch (to this day the worst PPV fight I have ever seen in my life)

@MidniteProwler I havent seen his bout with Soliman, I think I’ll watch it tonight!

So many didn't watch Winky until the Vargas fight but he was impressive when he beat Dobson
His fight with Harry Simon was really good though I seem to think it was announced as a draw and later after the fighters had left the ring changed to a win to Simon I believe
