    Poxv2,

This style works best with a man who has a short torso, and big arms. You need to be able to bend your knees a bit and keep balance as well.

Why not work on keeping your hands up first, and then slowly go to something fancier. You have to learn to walk before you can run.

I strongly suggest learning the most effective and efficient guard and that is the full guard. One day you can be taught cross guard, half guard, open guard etc by someone who knows what they are talking about.

Well, the Philly Shell or Crab isn't exactly the peek a boo hand up style. But you're right keeping the guard high is needed.

The Crab shell seems to work well with body shots, and counters.

Add in a shoulder type of defense, and if the style suits your build, you might have something.

I was saying to work on having a high guard before he goes into the philly shell, plus it doesn't work for everyone

Your response is prity much the reaspons I got from every one. Im not looking at give up on traing full guard. But I would like have more info on the techinal aspects of the philly shell to experiment with it sparing every now and then.

it actually feels most natural to me.
i can keep better range, have a faster jab, and move my feet better.
