Hi guys, can anyone recommend a nice looking, comfortable shoe for running and jump roping for boxing. There are so many, I don't know what to chose. Thanks.

Any training runner of decent quality will generally do...but if you are serious about training, you'll spend the extra money and get a proper analysis and look at your gait, and a proper measuring.

Is basically what I did and Adidas Supernova 6 is what best suited me. They weren't ridiculously expensive or anything.

...............Hang on, hang on; he's just giving you an example of what works for him, but I'd heed his advice as to finding out what kind of shoe is right for you.

Are you are heavy runner? A pronator or supinator? High arches or low? Just going out and picking something off the shelf could lead to some problems if they aren't designed for the way you run. That's why you see so many varieties out there.

Many running stores have a treadmill you can run on where the staff can analyze (and even videotape in some instances) your stride to allow them to give you the right shoes. They do this analyzing for free, incidentally.

yea what Sal said...there are computer generated measuring instruments that help show how you naturally distribute your weight when walking, and also running, your arch etc... So what may be right for me, is not necessarily good for you.

A lot of new technology in the shoe industry last couple of years. The runners are the one's pushing for new technology and they have plenty of money to spend.

Buying shoes is a trial and error process. Once you find your right kind it will be hard to change. Like the guy said above try going to a speciatly running store that has a staff that can analyze your running. The shoes are more expensive but if you have foot problems getting the right shoe is important, even more important if you are running every day.

If you can't afford the shoes they try selling keep in the mind the size and model. You can find 120 shoes for around 75 by doing searches on google shopping.

    (Edit) - how cute.... Carebears.

...........That's a good idea, though I've been pretty loyal to the place that went through all that effort to find the right ones for me. I have to swap mine out about every two months though, so what I do now is go to the Brooks outlet stores, where I can get last year's models (often the only difference is the color) for a cut-rate price. Instead of $95, I can get a pair of my trainers for $65, just because they're last year's models and happen to be blue rather than orange.

Example of a specialty running store? Can I just go to a boxing gym and ask them about what shoe is right for me?

If you are looking for a good athletic shoe you will not find this stuff in a boxing store. You will want to look around a major city... Specialized running shoes are very popular these days. Most of the stores in my area are small independtly owned so it would probably be good to ask people that are highly involved in long distance running. Go for the store that is specializes in running shoes only.
