As per the paragraph I've highlighted, Dana knew that Diaz wouldn't be happy with fulfilling it. Either he wanted THE FIGHT or he didn't. Not allowing Diaz to fulfill his promotional duties in another way (I know it shouldn't be one rule for one and one for the others but still, Dana booked the fight, he wanted it) and just slamming him is the wrong way to deal with it IMO. Dana should've used it to promote the fight, building Nick as a controversial figure Vs the face in GSP. Then we would've still got the fight AND Dana would've still got his buys.

On the stylistic matchup, we should get to see it. As you know, even moreso than boxing, MMA is hard to really predict. Even when it seems a fighter is completely overmatched, the ruleset/4 oz gloves give competent fighters the chance to turn a fight around. GSPs top control VS Diaz's guard is a battle I'd like to have seen play out. If GSP dominates, again, cements him as an incredible fighter. If Nick can pull something out of the bag (unlike) hooray, excitement, intrigue and explosiveness all round!

The stand-up is also an intriguing battle IMO. GSP is clinical, but so methodical nowadays he can appear tentative (to some that is a major issue) and Diaz gets going as the fight gets going, swarming all over his opposition due to his immense energy resources and durability. Diaz would've been easy as Hell for GSP to pick off from a technical standpoint, but he relishes a battle and would at least really make GSP work.

Either way, it's a fight a lot of people would like to see. Best way to sort it out? Get it on. Now Diaz will likely end up in Bellator Vs Ben Askren, or even worse BAMMA (or the still fairly weak ONE FC at a really optimistic strech) regardless of your opinion of Diaz, it works out well for everyone if we get to see him tested against some of the best, even if it is for his detractors to be proven right when he gets the **** beaten out of him.

I think it's a shame all round IMO. Diaz's attitude (or rather signing of a contract he knew he would be unhappy to completely fulfill), and Dana for essentially casting Diaz out of Zuffa (you'd imagine Nick will get cut after this) and out of some guaranteed good fights.

Demotion? Yes. Expulsion? No, not IMO.

****ing ******. Not only for the simple fact that he's filming this while driving. It contains no substance or explanations, just "I'm ready to make some money", "I want to fight"...."I'm ready to fight". He doesn't want money, or to fight. If he did, he'd show up to the ****ing press conferences to promote the fight and make even more money in the future. He bailed on those that support him and bought tickets. He's a punk and a moron.
