Obviously Kevin Maree knows the full sp but from what i heard Kenny and Carl went at it. Really hard sparring, Froch was preparing for a bout and Kenny did his job as sparring partner and his body took a pounding hence why Groves took aim downstairs as much as he could.

    What I was thinking of:

I’M getting fed up with the British Boxing Board of Control refusing to regulate the sport properly.

This week, Dereck Chisora’s British and Commonwealth heavyweight title defence against Tyson Fury fell through.

Promoter Mick Hennessy had won the right to stage the fight with a massive £300,000 purse bid but failed to supply a date and venue in time, before asking for an extension until September.

This is the second occasion huge bids have been submitted and a ridiculous situation ensued. The Board should disqualify anyone who doesn’t put a fight on from bidding again for the same fight.

Anderson had 2 weeks notice, no? It was announced on the 1st and they fought on the 13th, so surely the fighters knew probably a couple of days prior to that, before it was confirmed to the public.

Groves was also not preparing for that specific fighter as the whole point Anderson was called in at late notice was to replace his original opponent James Obedey Toney. George's original fight was also supposed to take place on the 30th October, so whilst I'm not saying that this is worse than having not enough time to prepare, it would also have a detrimental effect on his preperations.

Contracted to fight Groves, then it was broken, then what? You cant get him any other fights? because no-one wants to fight him either at supermiddle or light heavy? anywhere? other than small halls shows?

Feel a bit sorry for him due to training camps and then fights being pulled short notice but Im struggling to believe there arent any other fighters out there that you cant keep him relatively busy against, unless part of that process is to ensure you pick someone who is easy enough so you dont lose the mandatory, but I dont know the ins and outs enough.

Whatever the case Kenny is the main one suffering here so hopefully he can get a fight soon.

You are spot on. There is no reason for him to avoid Anderson who he has defeated as well as frankly better fighters than Anderson.

You have to feel for Kenny, but Groves has improved and IMO will beat Kenny up.

& you dont think Kenny will improve with a full training schedule behind him & more rounds under his belt? Kenny hasnt simply stood still you know and admired Groves from the sidelines!

Groves & Haye, good fighters BUT people make up so many excuses for them like they are boxing family on here....

No he's not stood still but he hasn't made any great waves either Dunky. The blokes he's been fighting have rolled straight out of a Weatherspoons!!

No doubt Anderson will improve with a full camp behind him, but George HAS improved and been fighting at a higher level. Also, George wasn't preparing for Anderson either in their last fight, it wasn't just one way.

This fight doesn't see Anderson going past round 6.

You know & I know that Groves owes Anderson & Degale a rematch, luckily for him hes living on the fumes from being part of team Booth/Haye or everyone would have been well sick of him by now.

To be fair to Anderson, he stepped in and gave a good account of himself in their last fight. But since then they have moved on and George has fought a better caliber of opposition and improved his game, whilst we don't really know if Kenny has improved due to the lack of quality he's faced.

I think the problem will now be, that by the time George's cut has healed the fight between Abraham and Steiglitz has been done, and the door opens up again for George to have a crack at the world title.
I do accept that morally George should give Kenny his rematch that he's waited so long for, or let the British title go.

I can see Anderson fighting Paul Smith for the vacant British and I will have my Anderson hat on hoping he smashes the **** out of that smug twat. Anderson wins this hands down imo.

Don't get me started on Degale - George owes that **** nothing and if the boot was on the other foot, Degale wouldn't entertain the idea of a rematch.

Surely Grove must prove that he is the real deal by fighting Anderson as it looks like he has
bottled it by calling of injured and not making his defence against Anderson . Now its one the public and the press want and surely Groves and his management must think highly of there man and this would be a easy defence then just prove it and step up and fight Anderson or is this just to dangerous for Groves

Anderson has a great chance early on, Groves although extremely sharp offensively isn't as sharp defensively especially early on. He likes to counter aggressively and Anderson will pressure behind a high guard.

Groves will put the money in the bank as he looks to break body down again and punch around the guard while Kenny looks to drop right hands from mid to short range. I think he and Booth got the tactics wrong that night, Groves characteristics and ability as a fighter is far better when he works at range, centre ring. Fighting close to the ropes is very hard to develop and really is a natural thing, Groves has a wide stance, that's not conducive to fighting off the ropes..

Anderson applied steady and slow pressure, low work rate but the mental pressure really got to Groves who couldn't help himself and traded foolishly and nearly paid the price.

I think if Kenny pushed Groves back again like last time we've got a great fight on our hands. Groves doesn't have a second phase defence it's purely defend the first punch and the head movements all well and good but he was still being caught on Saturday as he can't slip and roll and tends to trade, If Kenny can get into mid-short range he knows he can hurt Groves and Kenny's got good quality short punches so it's a chance for him. It's how much punishment he can take on the way in and if Groves comes to fight centre ring if he does box centre ring i take Groves to win in middle rounds.

Just a brief analysis but i wouldn't write Kenny off, Opening half of the fight if he could get his gameplan going he has a chance, Sierra is a totally different kettle of fish IMO. The style suited Groves a lot more then Kenny's who closes range rather then stands at it trading.

Groves would rightfully be a big favorite but this is a fight where there is a real punchers chance, but Paul Smith found you can hurt Groves, but he can hurt you to. Groves vs Anderson II= Good fight! however long it lasts..
