Linares was overrated, untested and nuthugged to a degree which was unacceptable.

Valero will be next to be exposed :deal

Countless posters refused to be budged on Linares,'he's the next Arguello' etc etc

Hozumi's Hook flat out refused to answer ANY of my questions to him. He was a ****in shocking poster.

Anyway, I actually quite liked Linares to start off with, but as is the case constant nuthugging started to make me dislike HIM rather than the nuthugging trolls who say things like 'STFU LINARES IS BEAST' rather than 'well, Linares has decent fundementals but has yet to be tested against an 'Elite' level opponent and as for being a two-weight 'World' champ, well I'm a fan but that's ridiculous'

    Anyways, to the trolls :rofl

To be fair Salgado is still undefeated, has a fairly decent 'name' on his resume, and is clearly a decent finisher.

I'm not hyping him up as 'the next Chavez' as some people undoubtedly will now (probably some Linares fans who will swear blind they never hyped him) but he looks decent. If Soto is moving up Kevin Mitchell would be a decent first defence to make sure this wasn't a fluke then onto Guerrero for 130lb supremacy.

people write off boxers way too fast after their first loss, linares will be back and win a belt. this win will do wonders for salgado though. let's see if he is the real deal.

So Linares didn't do anything too spectacular and was hyped to the max. Gets beaten by a guy he's supposed to beat (though they clearly lucked out on Salgado) yet he'll 'come back and win a belt'.

The fact is, belts mean **** ALL nowadays. Opposition is what makes a figther good.

Secondly, this isn't a case of Linares being ****. As previously stated, I liked Linares before the nuthugging turned me against him (unfair as its the rolls who deserve hate not the fighters) but this thread is NOT MEANT TO RUBBISH THE FIGHTER.

it's meant to show the nuthuggers who was right all along. Linares is nothing special.

Just like Humberto Soto, Jeorge Barrios, GUzrun.

They do have huggers but it sure do gets lonely being one of those because it is literally a very small group.

No Linares had a lot of huggers. Soto, barrios and Guzman were hated on by the Linares and Valero huggers due to 'not being in their league' etc etc etc

Valero will be next. Wait and see:deal

Okay, so was Khan who was KTFO by Prescott... but where are the "told you so" idiots now?

Linares dominated better guys than Salgado and became a 2-division champion. Guess what, he lost his first in 28 fights.

I remember many who always said "Roy is overrated, Roy is overrated", and when Tarver KTFO him, they said "We told you so"

What the Roy who had won numerous titles over years and beaten the likes of mccallum, Toney and even beaten an average heavyweight?

The comparisons here are not the same mate.

Linares beat a shot Larios and that was it. He won titles at two weigths due to him being a big star in Japan (where larios continued to fight) and getting a shot at an aged fighter and then moving up and getting a shot at a title which is based in his home nation against an opponent (Whyber Garcia) who had been blown away in a round by another fairly unimpressive venezualan Valero.

BigBone, you're a good poster, but Linares was hyped to the max for next to no reason. He had good fundementals but there you go.

I still don't rate Khan that highly and he will never be anything better than decent as he will be matched carefully for the rest of his career.

This is quite pathetic. As boxing fans should we never get excited about potential new prospects? That's the only way we are not going to get accused of 'hyping'. It would be incredibly boring if no one was interested in upcoming fighters, nearly as boring as it is when a boxer gets beaten (stop the press! boxer loses fight!) and the smug idiots come out and talk like they predicted something amazing. There are only a tiny select few fighters that have the honour of never being beaten (and unfortunately it's not always to do with their talent alone) but the thing that most people seem to forget is that the vast majority of boxers do suffer a KO/TKO at some point in their career....it's one of the risks of taking part in a profession where someone is trying to punch you in the head repeatedly for up to 36 minutes.

    Great fighters get stopped too:
    Archie Moore
    Jose Napoles
    Joe Louis
    Harry Greb
    Benny Leonard
    De La Hoya
    Roberto Duran
    Jack Johnson
    Floyd Patterson
    Willie Pep
    Thomas Hearns
    Wilfredo Gomez
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Mike Tyson
    Lennox Lewis
    Evander Holyfield
    etc..
    etc..

You can't judge a man's career fairly until it is over. Every fighter get's treated differently a few years after they retire and everything can be judged in perspective.

    No doubt.

But there is a difference between 'this guy is gonna be top 5 p4p and has no deficiances whatsoever' and 'this guy has some good skills but has some negatives'

As previously said I used to praise Linares. He always showed good fundementals, but for a fighter to be able to call himself a 'two-weight world champ' after beating one half-decent fighter is a disgrace.

You act as if I need a list of fighters that have suffered losses. I can assure you I know my boxing, exactly the reason I got frustrated at people hyping Linares up so much.

I like to look at new prospects and will 'hype' some to a degree, but you have to take the negatives with the positives. Nuthuggers don't do this which is why this loss is so sweet for me.

I'm not hating on the fighter. I have made that clear in previous posts. My favourite fighter of all time Alexis arguello lost by TKO in the 1st round before.........in his debut as a teenager. This is on the back of Linares being hyped to the max and signing a massive contract with Golden Boy.

I think it's humorous. salgado on the other hand has now established himself as a potentially decent fighter, lets hope people don't get too carried away with him:good

P.S; Napoles as stopped on cuts but nerv TKO'd or stopped to my knowledge :good with your obvious udnerstanding of the game you're wasted on this board.

he won his paper title by somehow fighting for the vacant wba 130 title in his first fight at 130 and he did against a bum that was koed in one round by Valero:rofl:rofl:rofl

    You know this Brother:good

As I say, to those who are criticising me for starting this thread, how is it different to the usual **** that gets posted on the general.

At the end of the day, to the nuthuggers; eat some humble pie.

To those that are intelligent enough to weigh up the intangibles, sorry for upsetting you with this thread :D

I love the fact that 'MattMattMatt' feels he needs to educate me on boxing :rofl
