Okay, so here's the knockout (1st KD) shot to make this thread utterly FAIL: This content is protected It was one of those stange shots to the temple, people get hit there all the time, yet 1 out of 1000 shots result in knockout. This fight, with a stange ending, told nothing about Linares' quality, too strange, too early, how the hell does a unique knockout shot like this tells us he was overrated, smartass? atsch Watch Ottke-Mundine and Hoye-Hall.
:deal Maybe the next time they see an unproven fighter beating a bunch of nobodies they will think twice before comparing him to a legend. At least wait till the fighter proves himself.
Well, it does. At the end of the day, we've never fallen out before and you've always seemed a good poster. You are obviously blind with Linares fanboyism. He WAS overrated. I never said he was **** I said he had been nuthugged to the degree that this would never be possible. BigBone, you KNOW how much he's been hyped. People have been going on for ages how good he is, some even said he is 'the next Arguello'. Although Arguello had losses in his career (stoppage at that) he also faced very good opposition at a young age. Linares is barely 'stepping up' here and has been blown away in a round. it's the way he reacts after he gets up that shows he isn't that good anyway, just takes a shellacking and goes down again. not the mark of an intelligent fighter imo.
To platy devils advocate maybe Salgado will prove to be good. Unlike Khan, Linares didn't show any glaring chin deficiances against non-punchers previous to this, he was been blown away by a guy who is in good shape and is undefeated. Khan will always have to protect his glass chin. Linares has decent fundementals but not a huge amount of pop and the way he folded after getting up leads me to believe that he wouldn't be able to take world class punches from the likes of Soto, not a big BIG puncher by any means, but ruthless enough to make Linares fold.
Funny, because some people jumped on me when I disagreed about Linares beaing the next P4P king. Now I'm a Linares nuthugger. But he was not "exposed" as a "hypejob", he's a very talented 2-divison world champ who was stopped in a very strange way, and some people jump on him if he's just a total bum who got beat by another bum. Nonsense. VERY strange KO, it happens sometimes (Mundine-Ottke), so it hardly tells quality or lack of quality of Linares.
Maybe he will maybe he wont but the fact remains that Salgado was a nobody coming to this fight and was supposed to be a tune-up for Soto. They should put Salgado against Soto next so these huggers can see the diference between a proven fighter(soto) and an hypejob(linares).
a lot of nuthuggers rate a fighter because they have no knowledge of boxing. They think valero is really good because they haven't seen Bazooka Limon looking average against good opposition. They think Linares is a really good boxer because they haven't seen the likes of ernesto Marcel putting on great displays in tough matches at 126. it's okay. They're casual fans. It's when they invade the classic that it does my head in:twisted:
No need to act so high and mighty. I don't feel the need to educate anyone on boxing, and had no intention to do so, but if you believed that to be the case then so be it. There are a few things that always happen in boxing and I get little joy from taking part in them. In this case, some boxers will always get overrated, but you can either get irritated by it or just accept that it's part of the enjoyment of being a fan for some people. I don't want to always sit back and scientifically analyse each boxer's strengths and weakness, and then scale my appreciation of the indivdual based on my findings...and I'm not going to take any joy in proving someone wrong if they happened to enjoy supporting one boxer beyond their abilities. The same applies in the opposite case with 'haters' if the boxer they despise proves them wrong...I'd like to think I would rise above making threads to make a bunch of people on the internet eat humble pie. The main reason why the 'told you so' mentality annoys me in boxing (and I made this point in a somewhat more laboured way in my previous post) is that, because so many boxers do suffer atleast one KO/TKO during their career, if someone constantly proclaims that someone is a 'KO waiting to happen' or is 'way overrated' then they are actually playing it safe with their predictions...they are virtually guaranteed to be right eventually...so the gloating means nothing. There is always someone who goes against the grain with the predictions, and then they think they are Nostradamus when it eventually goes their way.
One hell of a knockout. Those temple shots are crazy. He didnt take a beating so he should have no bother coming back! its just one of those things.
Valero has true ring skills, speed, and a chin. He was not knocked out by bums early on like Pacquiao was.
The difference between yesterdays fan and today is that when you lose today, you have to hear it from clowns such as...well you know who they are. These are the types of posters who tell you it was ok PAc lost, but Linares got exposed. Linares has been nothing but a nice guy, and yet he is criticizied for no apparent reason excpet losing a fight. fighters lose so get used to it. Some posters can't get used to that, and use the word "exposed" and have no clue what they are posting. See Paul Williams for details.
Not only is he the dumbest poster on ESB hes also the biggest crybaby :|:|:|:|:|:| http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158354&highlight=dumbest+poster
You and Blade weren't right about anything. You guys are what I call predisposed posters who hate on guys for no reason, and claim to be right when you really have just been hoping that a guy lost, and will come up with " I told you so's" lol... Blade being right about anything is about as bad as it gets on any forum.
