I'm dyslexic, and if I don't concentrate hard that happens. It's common knowledge, what are you a disability hater as well?

    This.

You've proved nothing. Look at Rafael Marquez. Ko'd early in his career by mediocre opposition, features in the top 10, and even top 5 pound for pound in the world for a significant period of time.

If Linares comes back and achieves great things will you make a thread claiming you were in fact ''wrong''. Not a chance.

Hate these told you so threads anyway. The stink of insecurity off them.

Marquez was matched hard though and proved that he could jack it. Wasn't spoonfed poor opponnts like Linares, look at Rafas first fight for ****s sake. You seem to think I'm a troll.

Yeah you're a decent poster. The original post seems a bit over the the top though. I just think Linares can achieve great things despite this loss, so saying 'i told you so' is premature.

Edit: Just saw that 'Messiah' thread about linares :patsch I guess i see your point.

:rofl@ all the people coming to Linares's aid. He just got blasted out in one round by a nobody. He'd never done anything of note prior to this fight outside of beating a shot Oscar Larios. People were infatuated with his textbook style and combinations, despite the fact that he was painfully limited and flawed.

:rofl@ the post comparing this loss to all the greats that have been KO'd in their careers.

Linares was a hype-job, and got exposed accordingly. End of.

Of course, despite his obvious faults Norris proved his worth. Linares was given kudos for **** all.

:goodCool. I think I perhaps took the thread too much to heart. I can appreciate how something like this could be cathartic. I know you weren't attacking Linares at all, but I think I tend to defend boxers who have lost, especially if by KO, since they can get such a hard time from fans sometimes.

Sweat Pea, you're a good poster, but if you are referring the list that put on the first page then I think you may not appreciate the point I was making. I wasn't putting Linares amongst the greats, I was merely illustrating that ALL fighters are capable of losing by KO/TKO right up the very top, it is not uncommon for ATGs to have a KO loss on their record. If I had the time, or will, I could have extended the list down through the ranks of all boxers to fringe world class, continental level, regional level right the way down to journeymen, then club fighters and the same pattern would remain...boxers get KOed.

An extension of the above idea is then that since fighters of all levels can lose badly then it is not sensible to draw such solid conclusions so soon. I don't believe anyone would have predicted what Hopkins, Arguello etc.. would go on to achieve after losing in their first fight...in fact Arguello was stopped in his 26th fight by a man with a losing record! A man who had lost his previous four fights and would lose his next three after beating Alexis. If that was now then there would be countless threads on ESB labelling him a variety of derogatory terms.

I'm sure there are countless boxers who have been written off after losing at a similar stage to Linares, but I'm not going to make such a sweeping statement about his future potential like it some foregone conclusion, I'd rather just enjoy an exciting talented boxer go about his business...the only difference now is that the increased access to media means that people are quicker to latch onto potentially great fighters, but as with anything, people sometimes get it wrong. It's easy to shout about the ones that you got right though...

Oh that wasn't the case, just that he and I had many wars with posters on here about Linares (and have had many troll owning times together) so I thought I'd remind certain people:good

Glad to see some other posters agreed. At the end of the day, I appreciate anyone who can weigh up positives and negatives, objectivity is the key to discussion.

I just can't stand posters who refuse to see ANY negatives in his chosen fighter. And isn't that exactly what a nuthugger is? So I was more than happy to refresh the memory of posters who said things like 'the messiah'
