Apparently, it's finally happening. The article doesn't mention Fedor by name, however.

Negotiations come nearer to a final stage
Vadim Finkelstein now is in Los Angeles where negotiations with the president of American organization UFC at present proceed, Даной Вайтом. Sides go on a meeting each other. Probably fast completion of negotiations. All details become known hardly later

Josh Gross is talking about it on Beatdown, he just got off the phone with Fedor's managment team. Apparently, the sum of money is enormous, and was surprising even to them. Fedor will become the highest paid MMA athlete ever. Theymade considerable progress with the sticking points and are on course to wrap this up in the next week or two.

i wonder if fighting in "combat sambo" competitions will still be part of his contract or if they ended up accepting ufc's conditions just because dana and co was willing to pay much more than usual....

Well the combat sambo is still an issue. It's come down to that and Fedor wants gauranteed money.

it's kinda ironic that after all the millions they had to spend , (buying pride fc) , taking fighters away etc....the 1 guy they wanted the most...is the most difficult to get...only because he had a "special" contract with dse to begin with...

Fedor/Couture is one of the biggest fights ever...but will the casual UFC fans care about Fedor? To Pride fans, this will be astronomical. But Fedor better hope he doesn't have a "Cro Cop moment" after getting this big deal.

I can certainly understand the UFC's hesistation in this manner. Mirko was supposed to be a sure thing, an super exciting European champion who would endear American fans with his brilliant stand up and launch them into Eastern Europe. We all saw how that worked out. They are already offering Fedor HUGE money from what we understand. I don't know how much further they can bend before the risk becomes to great for them to gamble.

lol, i have no idea how they'll spin this but im sure they'll be able to. They are great promoters. Hendy gets the title shot right off the bat, i dont see why Fedor can't either. Wanna see Fedor beat Couture, Sylvia and Gonzaga.

Randy said he heard the contents of the deal, and said Fedor will be quadrupling his best payday for just showing up. 2 million is probably about right.

EDIT: Apparently Trigg is reporting this from his sources in the UFC as well. Insane.

I agree, but Cro Cop has faced who is who in both K1 and MMA.Fedor didnt face top opponent since August 2005 (CC vs Fedor).I would like to see him against Barnett,Arlovski,Werdum,Couture,Gonzaga.....
