Tom Loeffler ***8207;@TomLoeffler1 2m @MarkEOrtega he is not approved by HBO and never on our radar, he should be calling out Quillin, if he wins, he becomes interesting @MarkEOrtega Lara fights on Showtime and had draws with Vanes and Molina, GGG vs Stevens=high ratings, who watches Lara? Tom Loeffler (@TomLoeffler1) February 10, 2014 I told everyone GGG was a fraud
Would expect Lara to be smarter than jumping in the ring with Golovkin this year. Should clean up the light middleweight divisio first !
the problem is whoever is left at 154 don't want a piece of Lara. Lara always confident, looking for big fights. Taking on GGG tells a ton about Lara's balls.
Always throwing the word duck when it's convenient but disregard it when it's not. Most over-used word.
I don't even get this - ggg is signed exclusively to HBO and they would not even sell the rights to televise his last fight - so hell will freeze over before they let him fight on Showtime - Lara fights for Goldenboy who are currently banned from HBO. If Lara really wanted the fight he should have stepped up and been vocal when ggg was looking for an off TV fight for Monte Carlo - only way I see it happening with the networks unless goldenboy can mend some fences.
Meh, I'd careful with kneejerking like this. There's so many things to consider when scheduling a fight and the question whether it's worth it, is definitely relevant. One loss could potentially ruin Golovkin's career given that he's not young and the hype surrounding him is huge. We also don't know how he would fare at 154. I'm honestly at the point where I don't actively blame boxers for not taking high risk low reward fights. There's just very litte money in boxing at the moment outside the top 10 or top 15 boxers in the world and you better plan your career carefully.
If he's not HBO approved then that's that. He's also not in GGG's weight division so I wouldn't call that a duck.
lol i knew one of the clowns would try this angle. ggg> lara x 10 his own toughness. still no chance in hell to make out of the ring awake.. be another fight one fighter gets KO'd by a jab
I'm happy lara called him out. I'd favor Lara in this matchup as long as he fights a smart fight and doesn't engage GGG too much in the pocket. GGG would be taking an exponential step-up in opposition if he signed on to fight Lara. It would easily be his best competition to date and would silence a lot of people's criticism of how weak his resume as a professional fighter has been up to this point. The criticism towards GGG is absolutely warranted, he's no spring chicken considering he's already in his 30's and he has an extensive amateur background already. Why he isn't taking on bigger names at this point is baffling to say the least. Fighting 3-4 subpar to mediocre fighters annually isn't that big of a deal, I'd respect his resume a lot more if he only fought twice a year against good-great competition.
There are very few big name, good-great fighters in his division and the few that are haven't shown much interest in fighting him. The criticism isn't really warranted because GGG has done nothing wrong. He's impressively beat those put in front of him and has been trying to get a shot at the #1 guy in his division as well as other highly rated MW's. Martinez is considered the #1 MW in the world and people don't criticize him but how great is his MW resume really?
