He called out Cotto and Quillan last night. Don't think either of them is racing to make the fight.

If GGG beats Soliman, then he controls 2 of the 4 MW belts. Gotta start somewhere if you want to unify.

 

Pretty much if he can get another belt then maybe a couple foghters will step up and more casuals will watch as he has the power and will be a unified champion and even though he won't be lineal most of us will have him as the #1

 

Over at the scene, he will fight Soliman in October or November. I love it. I respect he wants to not only unify, but do it quickly.

 

Fighting Soliman is the best route to go. Once he gets Soliman's belt, he may have effectively blocked all escape routes for contenders at 160. Think about this:

Cotto's plan at 160 is uncertain. He is going to face anyone that isn't a big name outside of a forced mandatory challenger. I don't think he will stay at 160.

Quillin is fighting nobodies and is fast becoming the protected fighter in boxing. He's avoiding Korobov to fight Andy Lee. He's been avoiding pretty much everyone who wants a fight with him.

He's a belt... and if you're trying to unify a division, you need his IBF belt, too. Plus, when you're having a hard time getting people to fight you, one way to help persuade them is to own more of the belts. I agree that Soliman isn't a top-self fight, but he's got a belt GGG wants. GGG wants to unquestionably be recognized as the top MW. If Cotto won't give him a shot at the lineal, the only way to get the recognition is to own all of the other belts besides Cotto's. Of course, Quillin might not fight him, either, but one belt at a time.
