I think Froch is so amped in that video because he genuinely believes that he should be fighting better, more proven opposition than that of George Groves. Sure, Groves comes across pretty confidently, and he probably genuinely thinks he's going to win, but he's never been in a ring with anyone remotely close to Carl Froch's abilities. One poster said Froch was overrated. This is a fighter who has fought the best his division has to offer, time and time again, for the last 4-5 years. I have great admiration for any man who has the courage to step in the ring, but this guy has continually fought monsters. If Mikkel Kessler, Andre Ward, and Lucian Bute didn't scare Froch, Groves isn't going to scare him either. Expect a win for Froch. It might be early.
Groves may well be getting under his skin, but this could also be a case of Froch trying to intimidate him. His previous opponents have all been experienced and established fighters, whereas Groves is still quite young and relatively new to this level of the game. Froch may be trying to use this to his advantage to intimidate Groves before the fight, whether it works or not is another story.
When there is a disparity in levels and experience, as there is with these two men, mind games and intimidation is usually irrelevant. Froch doesn't need to intimidate Carl Groves. He needs to punch him in the face on fight night, and given Groves history with struggling to take shots, in fights as well as sparring, I don't see how anyone can be overly confident of him standing up to a puncher like Froch.
Froch is facing George Groves unfortunately for him not Carl Groves otherwise he might have a chance. George Groves is going to win this fight because he is the better technical boxer, faster, quicker and has good ring intelligence and generalship. Froch seems to be trading as a hard man these days. His last fight against Kessler was another reckless slugfest. George Groves is not going to give him that type of fight. Froch an chase that type of fight and all it will do is get him knocked out.
Who is this Carl Groves? ;-) some kind of b*****d child of the two?
Was wondering that myself Carl Groves lol
I have no problems with Calzaghe taking the Hopkins fight over a mandatory done against Froch; none at all. I expect he got a bigger purse and the 'W' he holds over Hopkins is probably his career best win. Beating Froch in 07/08 wouldn't have done anything like beating Hopkins has for Calzaghe's resume/legacy. The point I am making is that Froch could do the same thing - he could go for a unification fight with Bika or Steiglitz, the trilogy with Kessler or step up to 175; all of which would do more for his bank balance and legacy (at this moment in time) than beating Groves - but he isn't. He is giving Groves the shot that Calzaghe denied him and for that, Froch deserves credit. If we can't agree then let's just agree to disagree :good !
