They now have who Kirk is fighting,:patsch I think this is a waste of time! From going to fight Toney to this guy!! I know he has been out for a while, but this will do nothing. Over in a min. or 2!!!

I hope that this is just to shake off some ring rust and get active at any price.

However, this guy is not worth my airfare to D.C. to watch Kirk destroy him.

    Make some noise Kirk!!!

    Go, KIRK!

Good to see him finally return ,and against a tough opponent, too. LOL

Well, at least he is making a comeback. Better against a tomato can, than not at all.

He should be able to get back in the ring the week after this fight . He needs to stay very very active if he wants an other shot!!

I think it's good to start off with a guaranteed win, even if it only lasts a round or two. He hasn't boxed in forever.

I agree... he should fight frequently, stay in shape, get progressively harder proponents.

I think he should fight in California in March so that some of his Canadian fans have an excuse to escape the snow!

Ralphie, do you know what his management situation is like? Has he fully cut ties with Duva??

Thanks. But who is promoting him? Anyone?

I feel bad for this opponent. He is badly outclassed and might get hurt.

The worst referee in the country Joe Cortez made sure Kirk didnt beat Ruiz. I have NEVER seen such biased officiating in over 30 yrs in boxing:fire:fire:fire

Exactly. Between Cortez's corruption and Ruiz's blatant ham acting to force bogus "low blow" calls (something that cheater did repeatedly, btw), it was a sad night for boxing. And Kirk Johnson's opportunity to win WITHIN the rules was stolen from him by these scum.

The WBA should revisit the decision and award Kirk the title so that we don't have to watch a Valuev-Holyfield rematch.

BoxRec says that the fight is being promoted by Triple Mac promotions. Who else do they promote?

come on Kirk and David won't fight, the risk outweights the reward for both of them. They are too risky for one another.
Funny isn't it? What boxing has come down to.
They will both seek very easy guys and hone their skills back and then, oh you know........call out David Haye.
Which, in a fair world, actually makes perfect sense since Haye hasn't done anything major at heavyweight to deserve a shot. He SHOULD have to earn his way up. I suppose you can argue a guy at the lower weight can deserve a big fight, but it wasn't like Haye cleaned out cruiser.

BoxRec is now showing that Kirk will fight again on April 4th, also at the Masonic Temple. Hopefully a step up in opposition and a few pounds lighter. That is great. I always thought Kirk needed to keep busy.
