Kirkland was issued a 24 month sentence and could be back in the ring in a year according to fightnews. Let's hope he spends this time training and out of trouble, and we could still see kirkland in the mix at 154 or 160.
    This is great news.

Cant see a guy like that staying out of trouble even when he's back fighting.

    :D

Look, im happy he didnt get a 10 year stretch because he's an exiting fighter who i like watching, and who will be good for the sport if he can stay out of trouble, but come on. The guy is one of the best up and coming boxers in the country - if he's behaving himself, why does he need to be driving around with an illegal gun? A guy like that must be into some other kind of business or involved with seriously shady characters if he requires a gun to protect himself. Anyone who's about 3 fights away from earning millions, and does that, must be an idiot who cannot be relied on to stay out of jail.

It's great news. Fighters like Kirkland are rare as can be. He makes me think of Joe Frazier. I was very disheartened by his incarceration.
