Looks like Kovalev vs Pascal 2 will happen

What else is there for Kovalev at the moment though? Gaymon has Stevenson, Beterbiev, and Fonfara... Gaymon already blocked Kovalev/Beterbiev which was being negotiated for this fall. Braehmer clearly isn't interested, Alvarez/Chilemba winner will probably be ready to fight in the 1st quarter of 2016, although probably in Feb or March.

 

Kovalev can fight one of the Cubans. Barrera would be cool. Much more intriguing than Pascal for sure. I won't even stay up late to watch a lame replay of the first fight if that happens.

 

I'm alright with that fight. I disagreed with hbos opinion on the gonzalez vs Pascal fight. press row was split down the middle for the winner. the two rounds that everyone seemed to agree Pascal won the widest. Hbo gave to the other guy.

I could have seen 96-94 for gonzales I guess... but not the way harold scored it.


Pascal had a couple good rounds vs kovalev. they had other times to stop the fight and didn't then just stop it after one punch and pascal not even hurt.

Yes, I know about boxing, and throwing punches with your chin in the air and your right hand by your waist is not textbook.

The last time Kovalev looked amazing was in his fight vs Hopkins.

Against Pascal, he slugged it out too often when he should have been boxing him, and against the last guy he fought, he outright threw caution in the wind at times.

You can't fight like that against a guy like Stevenson who has serious power.

Stop being so biased and watch the fights ****ytically instead of with your mouth ajar in wonderment.

 

This is the best available fight for Kovalev. Stevenson and Beterbiev isn't happening because of the network issues, Ward hasn't established himself in the division, Braehmer is happy with his regular reign. Alvarez, Barrera, Gonzalez, Chilemba none of them are exciting enough names for Kovalev's Russia debut, Pascal is. First fight was pretty good, this one could be too if Pascal is still the same.

 

So in other words Ward is going to take another tune up fight

 

Ward will be back in early 2017 and then mid 2018.

 

Good fight to stay busy with - first one was a barn burner. Should be much easier for Kov to highlight reel KO Pascal now as i believe jean is probably a shell of his old self.

That being said Ward really missed the boat...should have been on the cotto canelo undercard and got some nice exposure - and then this gets made immediately.

 

Terrible fight. Kovalev toyed with Pascal in their last fight. What has Pascal done since their last fight to show he can do any better than last time?

He needs to rematch Nathan Cleverly, not Jean Pascal. Before the BS stoppage and the rabbit punch to the head, Clev was about to Lacy™ him once he'd got warmed up. Clev won the event that night, so he should be more concerned with avenging his event loss.
