    Golovkin-Proksa Update

Fightnews.com has learned that an announcement will be made shortly to officially launch the big September 1 world title defense of world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20 KOs) against European titleholder Grzegorz Proksa (28-1, 21 KOs) at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY. Golovkin will be defending both his WBA and IBO belts against Proksa, who stepped in to replace WBO kingpin Dmitry Pirog, who pulled out of a unification bout citing a back injury.
Golovkin-Proksa will headline an HBO doubleheader that will open with a clash between former jr middleweight champion Serhiy Dzinziruk (37-1, 24 KOs) and unbeaten Jonathan Gonzalez (15-0, 13 KOs).

He has took it on far too short notice, even with full notice I'd still bet on Golovkin.

Probs to him for taking it, hopefully he is at least properly trained.

Golovkin is gonna KO Proksa. He's big, he's 23-0 with 20 KO's & he throws a beautiful right hand, a southpaws kryptonite.

I just watched some video of him & he's pretty badass. Proksa is gonna have to be his slickest ever just to survive...

    Damnit!!!:gsg

A 5'-11" beast vs a 5'-8" shuck & jiver. I'll be rooting for Greg, but me thinks he gets KO'ed.

props to Gregorz for taking this fight, unlike about 10 others who refused to step in for Pirog

if he gets hit with a Golovkin right, it could be good night for him, he has to give it all he's got to win

Shame, I thought Proksa could develop into something.

This fight will likely ruin any hope of getting big.

Nice for Proksa, but nicer for triple G cause he will KO him.

Sad to see. I've always appreciated the Roy Jones Jr.-lite impressions Proksa has entertained me with over the years. But this really ain't a fight he can win. I'd be very impressed if he upset Golovkin.

If Proksa finally keeps normal guard (especially left hand) and efficiently circles him to the left (Golovkin left) there is no reason he should be afraid of his right. Easier said than done though.

This is true. But who knows...Golovkin never fought anyone as unorthodox as Proksa. Maybe Proksa will make him look silly in there.:!:

We shall see on Sept. 1st.
