Looks like Quigg vs LSC

He is yet to face an enormous puncher the p4p equivalent of a Kovalev, but I don't find the comparison with Cleverly particularly apt for Teremoto.

High volume of punches aside, they bear no similarities whatsoever.

The disparity in their body punching skill alone makes Santa Cruz the head and shoulders better fighter than Cleverly (that being his main stock & trade) but he is also better from outside (picking off his opponents' jabs with both the right and left glove using short unwasteful movements, shooting long uppercuts into the bottom of their chin and forcing an involuntary head-tilt reaction to set up further delivery of ranged shots whereas Cleverly focuses more on getting a bead with his jab, scouting with it, never really snapping, just looking to get to mid-range, toe a line, tuck chin and flap his wings and hope to overwhelm with speed) and his motor is eminently longer-lasting. Even picking apart the pedestrian Shawn Corbin with everything going his way, he took breaks (or was admiring his work, a troubling habit either way) and of the minutes of action put in maybe two-and-change worth of actual work. Santa Cruz is a machine, only ever ceasing to unload punches when blocking incoming fire, even with his feet moving.

They both have a tendency to slap, which helps them "stretch" themselves and both manage such a high work rate without tiring and to outlast foes throwing more venomous blows imbued with more costly energy so they can eventually force the kind of stoppage both specialize in: accumulation of damage on exhausted prey. That said, I think Leo's hands scale to relative size are heavier (whereas Cleverly's are much faster, even just in straightforward terms, let alone pound for pound), and his punching form is a bit more correct than Nathan's, especially on the body (though Cleverly in all honesty can, when of a mind to, rip hooks down there pretty well...) but even too with - as may sound odd to some until you actually look at them side by side - something like the jab (which I've already noted Cleverly sometimes uses too 'playfully' - not that Santa Cruz is channeling Bazooka Quartey or anything, but his technique is usually on point with the follow-through and shifting of his weight into his foreleg, more so than with Cleverly...). Cleverly is the nimbler mover, better as using knee bends, and has better legs overall, less rigid than Santa Cruz - but he is just as often guilty of pissing away the height advantage each of them usually enjoys, for different reasons.

 

Solaris and MVC Yes Frampton doesn't want to fight Rigo, Quigg is also ducking him. Why do you only bring up Frampton not fighting him but your ok with Quigg not wanting to?. Rigo is avoided by everyone because he makes no money and nobody can beat him it really isn't a hard concept to understand Hearn said it in the last interview with Kugan it's alright saying you want to be the best but you want to get ****ing paid for it. Rigo brings no money to the table so why would Frampton or Quigg take a defeat for no money they would be idiots to do so.

 

Especially as when the dust has settled from LSC-Frampton-Quigg there actually will be money in it for the winner.

People will want to see Rigo take on someone which has worked their way to him like that.

 

Dont forget Kiko - in many ways he is the most proven superbantam of the lot. Remember he has been beating top superbantams for years...all the way back to Bernard Dunne....no one should discount any of these 4. On their night any one could give any other all he can handle. Granted Frampton has ko'd him (after a really tough competitive fight)..but who knows how Quigg and LSC would cope with his power? - they are not unhittable, and anyone Kiko can hit is in trouble....

 

Scott himself admits he doesn't want to fight Rigo. That alone tells you all you need to know.

Every time I've brought Rigo up you Irish make excuses for Carl.

 

Let's be fair though Kiko either knocks you out or he doesn't. he is one dimensional a lot of times, he can hit like a tank and puts on tons of pressure but if you have a good chin and can dig to keep him honest he is very beatable. Dunne had a terrible chin he was also caught in the 1st round so in a sense caught cold. Kiko is a good fighter improved a lot in recent times. One thing i wonder what about Kiko vs LSC, terrible style of LSC imo Leo get's hit and Kiko will meet him and go toe to toe, LSC doesn't hit like Frampton either idk if he would keep Kiko off him. I honestly think Kiko would be a harder fight for LSC than he would be for Frampton or Quigg.

 

When and what excuses? Same as Quigg, he's not ready. And just as you say for Quigg, that's exactly what him and his team say.

 

All that goes without saying STN. I agree completely. Maybe though Quigg would have more trouble with Kiko than would LSC?
Quigg can tend to start quite slowly and tentatively- at least LSC comes out all guns blazing. Quigg might be vulnerable to a fast start from Kiko.....??
Also I get the feeling LSC is tougher than Quigg.
