At 43, the loss limits his option. Unless he can secure a rematch (which seems very unlikely) or land a bout with RJJ (again, doubtful), I don't see any reason for him to continue on with his career. Despite what many claim, he is an all-time great who always made a great account for himself, last night included. He was truly a tactical master of the sport. Does anyone think he will actually land a rematch of a Jones bout (I don't, but wouldn't be shocked)? Is there any other move that makes sense for him?
Jones don t want the fight! and after hopkins snumed him to fight winky instead, jones wont give hopkins the chance to get his career on track by fighting him(or whats left of it)! seriously to much bad blood bewteen those to, to warnt for a rematch! they wont even sit down to talk about the possibilitys of it!
Well, I think the fight that makes most sense is Calzaghe-RJJ now. To me, it's a no-brainer. Those are the only two worthwhile opponents for Hops. I mean, is Hopkins going to target Dawson or someone else, assuming Jones-Calzaghe does happen? I can't see it, so I think this is the end of the road.
I agree,Hops vs Jones would be a fun fight, though more promotionally than in the ring,(alas, they would both wait all night to counter, you agree?)if you see what i mean. Hops has said its only 35+year olds for him from now on;he's staying on the seniors tour, which is fair enough.
