No, because, had that fight gone on, it would have took an Emile Griffith vs. Benny Paret type of turn, and that would not have been a pretty sight.

Ref is there to protect fighters even from themselves.

Salido connected about 17 hard shots in the last 15 seconds. REF was correct in stopping it as to save JUANMA from himself as he is a warrior and wasn't gonna kneel like his other lesser country men.

No, on second watch it wasn't a bad stoppage. Juanma was gonna get hurt real bad.

When you put it like that... seem fair. But then what about fights like Gatti vs Ward

THe fight might have been stopped a punch or two too soon but ref just hastened the inevitable!

He was throwing back with a reasonable degree of conviction. But...

He was also getting TAGGED repeatedly for a good while prior to that. :-(

It's up for debate. Imo he was saved from being branded by a highlight reel knock out.

Lopez was finished. I know he is a warrior, but everyone has their limits.

It reminds me a little of Froch vs Taylor, but Juanma was throwing back but there didn't seen to be much on the end of his punches.

i thot it was early however i do not think it was controversial. juanma was clearly in trouble. who cres if its early. make the rematch. ref probably saved his career.
