that is my predicition. it isnt anything to do with marquez being passed his prime, he has always been chinny, and lopez is a huge puncher. KO.
Marquez was never unconscious against Vasquez which says something. Lopez is just as chinny if not more than Rafa, and got dropped by Conception when he had him in trouble by a random counter. If Rafa isn't shot, Lopez has only the advantage of size and a bit of power.
I agree with the pick, but like Bogotazo said, Lopez is the more questionable chin in this fight. It also needs to be said that Marquez is a superb technician who will land...but, Marquez has looked **** and then good against a finished opponent...this is different.
'Chinny'? How many punchers he take in those 3 fights from Vazquez again? Remind me. Terrible analysis. JuanMa has a more suspect chin than Marquez, and Marquez hits just as hard and is just as sharp with a better overall offense in my book.
It has EVERYTHING to do with rafa being passed prime. Overall, Rafael Marquez is a better fighter prime for prime.
I've picked Lopez, but you really can't dismiss Marquez's chances. Both Mtagwa and Concepcion had Lopez in trouble at various points, and Marquez -- even in his post-prime phase -- has enough power to crack Lopez' chin. Personally, I think Lopez has the better boxing ability and, if he boxes intelligently, should win the fight. The trouble is that Mexico-vs-Puerto Rico isn't exactly a backdrop for boxing intelligently. They tend to just go at it, and Lopez has shown a tendency to go to war when he doesn't need to. I'd still give the edge to Lopez, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marquez and the occasion dragged him into an ugly (but superb for the fans) blood-and-thunder battle, which either might win.
I'm picking Marquez for the stunner! Lopez will have too much pressure coming into this fight and Marquez is gonna show him whats up. Marquez by UD with Lopez barely hanging in there in the later rounds. Knockdowns on both sides.
