Estrada opens the eighth by starting a combination that lasts twenty seconds - jabs to the face and shovels to the body. Most of them at least partially land. Lora tries to lean into him with his shoulder and forearm to get into position to push off and land a big right hand. Estrada's not giving him much of a target - he's either busily punching at Lora himself, or his guard is high and tight with his chin tucked. Big combination from Estrada, a textbook 1-2-3, batters the gloves of Lora until they drop with the punctuating hook landing partially. More lead rights are landing as Estrada chases Lora around. Lora still throwing primarily jabs, that still primarily have no effect.
Lora's corner calls it off before the 9th. He looks about as disappointed as he looks victorious. Good for King David.
It's over, Lora calls it a day. Not a bad idea, tough guy like that was just gonna take a beating the last 4 rounds.
Basically. If Estrada was a tad a bigger puncher he would have stopped him by now. Did anyone see Lora's face at the end of the last round? :verysad
Solid win for Estrada. Good performance. Lora only showed he can put together some combinations, and that he has a good chin. Other than that, his speed is average and his defense is terrible. Back to the drawing board for the kid, I guess.
Well, we now know he can take a **** stomping. Good call on the corner stoppage although it could have been much sooner.
We probably won't see much more of Lora on the international level. Estrada - he could make a little run here and maybe at least get himself a decent payday. He at least has somewhat of a name already (at least by way of association, having been in with some big names). He tells Joe and Teddy that he's matured a lot and is taking the sport very seriously now. He just went in and had faith in his pressure style. He says he's never struggled with confidence, even when in with superstars, because at the end of the day anybody's human and if they're your same weight you always have a shot. Good attitude. Good guy.
You gotta like David Estrada, he's one of the best journeymen's out there. He's gonna be a tough out for anyone. He always is gonna come and fight, and he's been in some great fights.
Agreed. Good guy and when he's in the ring you just now you're gonna be entertained, no matter if he wins or loses.
