Lorenzo : Velasquez vs Mir in the works

Id still fancy Mir to get his shots off 1st in an exchange, whether Frank's chin can hold up to the counter or rock Cain enough himself will be the telling factor

 

Either way, I'm pretty certain this will be a kickboxing match. I think it would be silly for Cain to even test the ground in this one. Has he ever been on the ground with a guy like Mir? The best submission guys that he has fought have been Nog and Stojnic, both of which he just beat up on the feet. He beat Stojnic up on the ground after his beating in the first, but then again, he isn't exactly a Mir level ground wizard.

 

Agree'd, I think the only was this ends up on the mat is if, or rather when, someone gets knocked down.

No, Cain is still VERY green at this stage in terms of having delt with different styles, he's had no one, except Nog, with any kind of high level MMA Jits in his skill set as Mir does

 

Mir has been working ALOT on his wrestling.... I'm sure it'll mean nothing in this fight discussion but its food for thought.

 

I don't think Cain is a great kickboxer, but I think he is competent enough to capitalize on Mir's rubbish chin. I don't see this being a long fight at all. Velasquez TKO Mir.

 

Two blokes with questionable whiskers, duking it out. The only thing we can say for certain is that someone is getting KTFO :deal

 

I love fights in which both sides of the tilt are occupied by Glass Jaws. This comes down to who lands first and I think Velasquez's speed and wrestling ability make him the guy to do it. If he's smart he won't even give Mir a chance to land a lucky shot and will instead shatter his Frangible Mandible on the mat.

I'm no UFC expert but I too think Velasquez takes this one. While Velasquez does have a glass jaw Mir's is even worse and Velasquez is more skilled overall anyways

 

This I will watch. Mir will not make it out of the first. Hes very dangerous from his back but he isnt good at tieing people up in his guard. Hes been destroyed plenty from this position.

Although to see him in with JDS would be sweet!

Either way Mir gets TKO'd in the first. Hes so slow.

That shot that dropped him against JDS would have dropped anyone.

Being hit behind the ear will **** you up.

 

Mir is chinny but seems to be able lock in sick submissions on auto pilot. So if you drop him, you better ask for him to be stood up. Diving on him to GNP him has been the undoing of many fighters in the past.
