Lorenzo wasn't cut in the back of the head! He laid on the canvas and the blood from his busted eyes ran down his head and collected there. So when he got up it appeared to look like there was a cut there. that shot was a glancing blow. The medical exam reported no head trauma or a cut on the back of the head.

I agree with that fine, but cortez should of got one too. Lorenzo is a damn sucker. raising his hands in the air like he did something to be proud of.

anyone notice how cortez refrained from saying his " I'm fair but I'm firm" in the Wlad fight?

I was really hoping that after the HBO team saw Cortez blow the call during the Pac vs Diaz show, they might flew some muscle and make sure he didn't ref significant fights on their network any longer. But I'll be damned if he wasn't there reffing the Heavyweight title fight last weekend on HBO, and they made no mention of his obvious incompetence.

I don't think Cortez is purposely evil or anything, but he's lost his authority and ability to actually comprehend what's going on in the ring. I mean, that fool defended his unnecessary breaking of Soto and Lorenzo because he thought they "were GOING to clinch!!!!!" That is ****ing mindlowing.

This is an outrage. Order a rematch, that's fine. The final decision was DQ, honor that. Right or wrong, that's the final verdict.

WBC now pretends it's above the sanctioning bodies.. that is WRONG.

I'm pretty sure that the ulterior motive for all of this is to remove any need for a rematch ( which isn't wanted or needed as Soto was pretty much dominating Lorenzo ) Soto can move up to bigger and better fights while Lorenzo can go back down to the bottom of the pile where the WBC obviously believes he belongs.

This may be technically unfair to Lorenzo but I'm going to guess that they have some pretty conclusive lawyer-approved evidence that Lorenzo was acting. Medical reports, tape replays, etc. And it may be a bit of overkill but given the number of fighters who are finding themselves bogged down with overmatched mandatory opponents seeing one of the belts make an effort to prevent another boring, one-sided match is a ray of hope.

Even though Soto clearly beat Lorenzo in the rematch, the rematch shouldn't been taken place any way if Cortez and the commission wasn't fool by Lorenzo acting job in the first fight. For those that saying rules are rules and Soto clearly hit Lorenzo on the back of the head are ******s point blank. I guess for those that say that didn't wear glasses or is a Soto hater. The replay clearly shows that Soto did not landed a punch on Lorenzo while Lorenzo went down. Soto clearly missed a punch in which that's a good thing. Lorenzo should been banned from boxing for his acting job. I find it more funny that those that say rules are rules didn't say anything when Lorenzo went down in badly pain ( yea sure) by the punch of Soto on the back of the head ( it didn't land), that Lorenzo had all the energy to walk normal and raise his hands up when he was declare a winner by dq.

    ..except the punch "did" land.

Lorenzo probably was acting, and it was a sad attempt.. but the fact is Soto hit him when he was down, the ref ruled DQ. That should stand. You can't go and start changing results just for the **** of it, right or wrong.. it's the rules.

Soto won the rematch, end of story.

Now JMM rejected Cortez as the ref for the fight against Diaz. I think it is a very smart choice.
