Them three fights were historic (well two of them, I still stay fight two sucked), but as far as boxing goes no one won. Ali went over the top 'slightly ' with the infamous 'Uncle Tom' remark, but at least he chilled out as time went by,. Frazier kept smokin' cumminating with the crass:

'People point out Ali beat me two out of three, but look at him, who really won?"

    Ali DESERVED those comments.

Frazier helped get Ali back into ****ing boxing, PAID to help him out, and what did Frazier get?

Ali ****ing grabbing ahold of him in a TV studio?

Calling him ignorant, stupid? An uncle tom?

Frazier's spiteful for a good ****ing reason.

Ali made Frazier, and although the Uncle Tom remark over stepped the mark, generally Ali only made comments in the 70s to make the fight, and generally them comments were tongue in cheek. Sadly Frazier never got it, and it turned into a very bitter man IMO.

Ali was going over the line and tearing fighters apart since Floyd Patterson and Archie Moore did one thing or another to annoy him in some unbearable way.

    Anything else is revisionist history.

Ali COULD be an *******, and often was.

You don't need to call nice guy Floyd Patterosn a uncle tom in the racially charged 60's. No need.

60s no doubt, Ali did not just step over the line, he trampled it down, thus that three year retirement chilled him out no end and he learnt to control his rage; whilst putting his sweet personality across.

Sure his comments did still hit the mark in the early 70s (not least because compared to Ali, Frazier was a bit of an....; well I will not go there, as I may quiet rightly upset some). But generally Ali's banter was done tongue in cheek and if you were quick enough, you too could have good banter with him!

I'm just going by the three actual boxing matches, not all the politics and drama's.

From a pure boxing match standpoint both Ali and Frazier came out great winners, and boxing is so much the richer having these three fights.

But do you not think the politics and intrigue, both positive and negative, added to confrontations? I think without the added bit of spice, you would never of seen for instance Frank Sinatra being an official photographer for the fight of the century...

That is how good it got for boxing, arguably the greatest entertainer of the 20th century was prepared to have a extra's part, just to get to see the match-up!

Well it just seemed you were looking at them negatively with factors other than the fights the reason. Obviously the build up was fantastic and they were gala events.

You got me; I must admit I do like boxing for the spin and politics as much as the actual fighting, and Ali/Frazier had them both in bucket loads.:yep

    Billy Conn against Joe Louis.

You would think he won the fight.

True, but in a sense, the winner came out as loser too. Frazier won the first but was never the same after that. Ali wasn't quite the same after Manilla either.

Klit vs Lewis...even though he lost his stock rose and many (not all) perceptions about him were proven false

nelson vs sanchez...Nelson was unknown before this, but a dominant fixture afterwards.

    D. Lopez vs Chacon

Gomez vs Sanchez and nelson...probably 2 small to be effective at this weight gave 2 gritty performances against 2 guys proven to be effective at that weight.

Yeah Conn really blew up after that first fight.

Corrales in his first fight with Joel Casamayor where he faught with his bottom lip more or less dangling from his face.
