It is obvious to everyone that Floyd's next opponent should either be the winner of Pacquiao/Cotto or Shane Mosley. If he doesn't fight either of these guys than he is officially a phoney and a coward in my eyes.

Now if Pacquiao wins against Cotto, that is the logical choice for Floyd. It would be the biggest fight in quite a long time. Negotiations would be rough, but I believe Floyd would eventually concede to 55-45 for Manny as he would not want to give up such a big pay day. Manny's style is perfect for Floyd to counter so I believe Floyd sees Manny as his easiest choice (sorry Pac fans, Manny's weakness to lead right hands and counter left hooks is what Floyd would capitalize on).

If Cotto wins against Manny, then Floyd could agree to fight Manny anyway and try for a 60-40 split in his favor, but doing that would make him lose credibility in many eyes (not that he cares). Which leaves either Cotto or Mosley.

Between Cotto and Mosley, I believe Cotto is the easier fight, but Mosley is easier to deal with in negotiations. I base this on who the respective promoters are. Cotto works for Top Rank and Mosley for Golden Boy. Either fight would be a huge payday, though most likely not as big as a Pacquiao fight should Pacman win.

If Floyd wants a fight he has a better chance of winning, he will pick Cotto as we all know how much Floyd wants to protect his "0" (I'm not saying Floyd would easily beat Cotto, I believe Cotto would give Floyd a hell of a fight, I just believe Shane is tougher for Floyd to beat). Negotiations would be rough as Floyd and Bob Arum do not exactly get along, but in the end an agreement would be made.

If Floyd wants an easier time at the negotiation table and an almost guaranteed larger share of the purse, he would pick Shane. Mosley wants that one last mega payday, and Floyd is the one who can give that type of match. Floyd knows this and would use this to his advantage when negotiating. Plus, Floyd has a much better business relationship with Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions. However, Shane poses the biggest risk to Floyd losing that "0". Floyd's father even went on record and said Shane Mosley's style poses the biggest risk to Pretty Boy. Crisp jabs, superior power with either hand and nearly identical hand speed would give Floyd a lot of difficulty. And, unlike Zab Judah, Shane won't fade down the stretch.

So, here is how it is broken down:

Biggest Payday and Easiest Fight (Manny Pacquiao)
Tough Negotiation, Easier fight (Miguel Cotto)
Easy Negotiation, Toughest fight (Shane Mosley)

Funny, a 22 year old teaching a "42" year old. You really need help old man. I got a feeling you're an ALT, quite possibly for NALLEGE...I'm done with you, troll. Learn English and type properly and maybe, just maybe you will get at least some credibility around here. Goodbye ***g0t :hi:

believe me he's going to lose more( respect, believers, money, choices ) if his preference of competion dosent change in his NEXT FIGHT..i personally believe right now he feels he's into a lot of pressure on the caliber of his next opponent...he should make up his mind if he goes for LEGACY or JUST THE MONEY.. with the first one, he gets both..if he chooses to fight for the money alone, one way or another people will get tired of him and he loses all...

Hopkins would kill JMM, but would that make that win creditable? Hell no. Gtfo with this "He beat number 2 pound for pound." Dude is how many weightclasses below Floyd? Exactly

Guess what dumb****, the same guy that you say enhances Floyd's legacy is the same guy that got KTFO by Hopkins, yet you say Hopkins is overrated and asked who has he beaten???? I highlighted his name in huge yellow letters so you have a better understanding of how dumb you look.

 De la Hoya isn't even Hopkins best win. DLH is arguably Mayweather's best win thus far....So by your logic, Hopkins is overrated because DLH is overrated, what does that make Floyd???????

I think Floyd should fight Berto, take back what's rightfully his...then take on the loser of Manny/Cotto, defeat them in style...then he should do the winner.

Mosley ain't a contender...he gave Cotto a good go, he was fortunate with his KO of Mayorga, he was impressive against Margarito - but, he backed out of two fight with Floyd previously. Why would Floyd want to give him a pay day when the pro's aren't much better than the con's? - If he fought Mosley and won he would be slated for fighting and beating a 38year old and accused of avoiding true threats to his throne in Manny and Cotto - same if he was to get beat, he'd have been beaten by a 38year old and wouldn't have been worthy enough to fight them.

2 years ago Cotto was talked about as the only legitimate threat to Floyd's Welterweight crown, but Cotto didn't seem too interested in the fight, then he went and got beat by Margarito, and was thrown out of contention, and then there was nobody left for Floyd to fight. There was no money out there, a fight with Williams was too risky and not enough of a pay day. He fought Hatton...who was hyped (wrongly in my opinion - you only had to watch the Collazo fight to know he wasn't in with a genuine chance) as a threat to Floyd's unblemished record, and we all know what happened there.

Now all of a sudden Pacquiao has climbed division after division annihilating anybody in his path with his unrivalled speed. Now I don't want to take anything away from him, I'm a Pacuiao/Roach fan, but Cotto will be his first real test since JMM. JMM in my opinion has beaten him once and at least deserved a draw in the last outing. People say JMM was too small for Floyd - the same people who forget Floyd started in the lower weight classes and moved up in weight to dominate the Welterweight division. I don't think Pacquiao will have enough tricks in the bag to beat Floyd. He's too clever for the over eager Manny.

I like seeing Floyd take risks and fighting the fights we all want to see, I was genuinely excited about the JMM fight and thought it was the perfect fight to throw his name back in the mix. He's the PPV and P4P King.

The only person I think who has had a style that could have beaten Floyd was Zab Judah - with more discipline toward later rounds, Zab could have taken Floyd's 'O'. He set out the blueprints and people like Hatton wrongly looked to Castillo's game plan as to how to beat Floyd because he came kind of close - well look what he done in the rematch when there was some doubt! There isn't really a blueprint because it's never been done before!!

I know I've gone off on some random tangents there but you all need to lay off Floyd. Everybody needs to stop speculating and wait for the great man himself to come out and tell us who he's fighting next.
