Doesn't that make manny and roach morons. WHy would they insist on the 1 pound if it doesn't make a difference? Against Morales why did Roach say that if Morales weighed more than 132 he would cancel the fight because it would be too mch of an advantage.

I don't think that the weight is a big issue but Manny has no one but himself to blame for people not giving him the credit he deserves.l He should have never asked for such a bull**** weight concession. If you are fighting for a 147 pound title, then you need to be prepared to fight a 147 pound fighter or deal with the criticism if you don;t

I'm quite sure Cotto making 145 didn't affect his performance at all. The fact that he came in at 146 for the Clottey fight when he didn't have to shows that he was far from having a titanic struggle to make 147. In that case, shedding one pound makes little difference.

However, thesandman makes a good point above. Think of the lowest possible weight you can get to, then someone tells you you must lose another pound. That's when shedding a pound can be hard to do, wouldn't it?

within the context of the cotto / pac fight, cotto can only make 145 without sacrificing his performance. that's why he did not agree to the original 143 catchweight. he never complained about it or made it an excuse. makes me wonder why this is even being discussed.

Cotto didn't lost because he dehydrated himself for 1 pound, he lost because PAC is just simply better. PAC will always win against COtto 95 times out of 100, in any weight.

Cotto is a small welterweight really and only moved up because he could no longer cut down to 140. He'd only weighed in at the limit in 3 of his 8 bouts at 147.

    It made no difference.

If it had been Margo, who has a bigger frame and has to work alot harder to get down to 147 it probably would have been a different story.

It was a fair fight, Pac won fair and square. The same thing will happen in a rematch, wether it's at a 150 cathweight or at the 154 limit. The only thing I see going differently is Cotto boxing going backwards/running more like he did when hurt in the late rounds of the first fight which seemed to frustrate Pac.
