Losing ONE POUND can never in a million years weaken an adult male.

As I said, making Cotto come in lighter was no guarantee that Cotto would rehydrate to less, but it was an attempt to level the playing field by capping Cotto's rehydration weight. Cotto is not a big man, he is 5ft 7in, a former lww, and I very much doubt he is going to stay at lmw. Looking good vs Yuri ****ing Foreman is a hell of a lot easier than looking good against Pacquiao or Mosley or Clottey or Margarito or Judah.

If you don't understand that it's easier to look good in every way vs Yuri Foreman than it is vs Manny Pacquiao, check into rehab and dry out for a few months.

At what point do they get weakened? It's not like Cotto walks around at 147. He already has to cut 30 lbs. or so to get to 147lbs. The reality is that Cotto is already draining himself to get to the WW limit. Requiring him to cut an extra two lbs. is not doing him any favors. Cotto is the only one who knows how much, if it all, the extra weight loss affected him. Everyone's body is different and reacts to weight loss differently.

I'll repeat for what feels like the 100th time:

Make that the very highest calibre.

Cotto said he felt great at the weight. Going through a process to get to 146 vs Clottey is not significantly easier than going through a process to get to 145. It just isn't.

You're looking at in the wrong way. His punch output and overall endurance looked so much better in the Foreman fight, then in the Clottey and Pacquiao fights. He didn't look right at all fighting those two, he looked weak down the stretch.

Roy Jones also said he's back to his old self in the Calzaghe fight.

But 147 was the weight he had been fighting at for years. If you are going to keep taking it further and further away from his standard fighting weight, it's completely different to asking him to weigh in one pound lighter than he weighed normally in his last fight. :-(

Roy Jones had been shot for about 4 years by that point.

Miguel Cotto weighed in 1 pound less than he did for his previous fight.

    Incomparable.

I can't even add anything to what I've said already. If you don't understand the difference yourself, I honestly can't help you.

Doesn't matter as you get older, your metabolism starts to slow down. He's at the age where it starts to do that and that will affect how he makes weight. Like BigReg said, he already has to cut a bunch of weight already.

but you see its a new procces each camp he goes up in weight between camps so he may weigh 158-160 going in so he shreds the weight but then has to find one more pound from somewere hes already dehydrated like most fighters making weight , very low body fat percentage so weres the one pound coming from

He went through a process to get to 146 for Clottey.

He went through a process to get to 145 for Pacquiao.

ONE POUND means nothing to Cotto in this scenario. Sorry. Ludicrous.

This person doesn't know anything about cutting weight or perhaps boxing... Of course Cotto or any fighter is going to say they feel great... What moron is going to admit heading into the fight saying they feel weak and drain trying to make weight. The sport of boxing not only deals with the physical aspect, but mentally as well. Tyson even said he beat most of his opponents with intimination. Cotto was struggling with both and Manny and his coach simply took advantage for the right moment to face him. Anyone who doesn't see this is just a being naive.
