You will probably lose some weight lifting ability, if you want to quatify strength as such.

In terms of punching power it should go up not down, due to you no longer lifting weights but doing boxing specific training.

You will lose some of your ability to bench/squat/dead/whatever X amount of pounds. However you will gain other strength qualities that will make your strength more well rounded such as:
speed strength (ability to executive a motion very quickly against no or little resistance)

explosive strength (ability to accelerate through a resistance...think "head" or the ability to keep your FT fibers maximally firing throughout a motion)

starting strength (ability to recruit a large amount of muscle fibers immediately)

strength endurance (ability to maintain strength over time)

So it really isnt all that bad. When you start hitting the weights again you may have fewer or less sever sticking points during lifts as well. Do some research on the front lever, planche pushups, 1 arm chin, freestanding handstand pushups, 1 arm divebombers and pushups, glute ham raises, and 1 legged squats. These will definitely help maintain or increase your strength. Beastskills.com is a good place to start, alot is covered there. A few more helpful sites:
    gymnasticbodies
    bodyweight culture
    dragondoor

    good luck!:good

Do you mind me asking what your poundages are on a few lifts?

QFT. No other opinion here matters. Muscles not stimulated WILL atrophy and thus you loose muscle memory as a result and obviously strength.

if i were you id go to boxing gym 2-3 times a week and try lift weights twice a week to maintain strength. depends what % bf you are too, if you are high % it will be alot easier but if your like 8-15% it will be real tough to drop 30lbs and u will likely lose muscle mass and thus strength.

The only problem is I live in a small town (sonora, ca) and the gyms up here are EXPENSIVE. The gym I go to is $55 a month, and the boxing gym im going to go to is $65, no way can I afford both so I have to make a choice. After reading about it and whatnot i've decided to go to the boxing gym, and invest in a sit up bar, push up bars, and the gym that I'm going to go to has pullup bars and dip bars (I love dips lol) so I think I should be ok.

Thanks a lot for everyones advice, I appreciate it.

What will be more usefull to you?

Strength for lifting free weights at the gym or increased athletic ability, fitness, stamina and boxing technique?

Myth it all depends on how you strength train. Westside methods do wonders for punching power. If you train slow you will fight slow. It doesn't matter if you are lifting weights or shadow boxing.
